Which Outdoor set up is better?

  1. 1. Growing plants outdoor in 5 - 7 gallon buckets. Plants are vegged for 3 - 4 weeks and transplanted at-least twice before 5 gallon buckets. Better for early frost, but obvious to see.

    2. Growing plants outdoor in the ground. Plants are vegged for 3 - 4 weeks and transplanted from 1 gallon bucket into ground. More stealth.

    Also, explain why?

  2. how do u figure they will only veg for only 3-4 weeks? Regardless gradually raising the size of bucket will prevent the roots, or whole plant for that matter, to grow larger than it can handle at that stage of growth. So option 1, but put her in the ground eventually for maximum growth.

  3. So get them up to 5 gallon buckets and plant them into the ground from the 5 gallon?

  4. well depending on ur increments of buckets but there are tons of factors.... everytime u transplant ur taking the chance of stressing ur plant which will cause stunted growth that could amke problem for early frost but at the same time keeping them in buckets with make it easier to control the plants enviroment lessing the chance of deficientcies that will do the same... expieriment a little this year, if ur doing more than one try diffrent ways. put them in diffent sized buckets as well as the ground at diffrent times.

  5. I stick to buckets because if I felt the least anxious, I could move my plants to a different plot. I only transplanted once. I started in solo cups and then put it in 5 gallon buckets. I started the plants in a window until it was warm enough to put them outside.
