Which method is best for my setup?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Noblexperiment, Sep 11, 2011.

  1. I have a 10 x 10 room with 2 600watt lights, I have never worked with the SOG method and fully understand what it is so by no means am I looking for information on the method itself. My question is would I benefit(yield wise) performing the SOG putting, 1 plant every square foot or would my yield be larger if I just stick with the usual 16 plants and FIM/Supper crop them. Im going to switch to a perpetual SOG when I move into my new house I just really wanna make this last yield count so that I can have enough income to make 3 rooms in the new place. This is my first post so id appreciate any info you might have up your sleeves. Now lets all smoke a bowl of our finest top shelf and drop some knowledge on how I can make this last grow yield as much as possible.

  2. Personally I would go for a scrog, with 18 plants that would give you a pretty good yeild

  3. have you ever heard of topping while using sog and if so is it worth it or just focus on the main top kola

  4. you could top them or even fim them which imo is better but i would still go for a scrog myself

  5. SCROG is far more profitable keepthe others as mothers..

  6. how many plants should i use to cover an 8 by 8 area? i was thinking 4 but ive never used the scrog method before so any tips on that aswell are much appreciated.

  7. No other way to tell you this but the SOG method takes experience, if you aint got it, then take it slow, I've seen a very efficient setup up with 4 plants per foot, unfortunately many quick buck artists use the SOG technique, and that is the problem, they don't have the experience to either grow correctly or to handle the bulk product at the end harvest, getting rid of a ton of weed does have it's own problems.
Many here grow 4-9 plants continuously year round, word gets out and slowly you build a reliable customer base, of friends of friends.
But to show up, with a ton of prime head, and not get ripped off, killed, or thrown inside for an indefinite period, is a very very RARE occurrence.
I'm an OLD guy, seen many things with this stuff, done good and bad, and have to say your chance of success to be less than 10%, assuming your age to be 24-38 years old...SORRY.
Grow 3-6 plants year round, if you get busted then you only grown 3-6 plants not the 400 plus that the SOG can do.

good luck, you'll need it ..lol

  8. I appreciate your concern but I am a medical grower in california with over 25 patients I offer my services too, so the amount of plants and its distribution is well taken care of. Also the previous posts have suggested I use the scrog technique which has some similar characteristics of the sog method but is completely differnt with the use of a screen hence the scrog name. So any information on the bending of branches and such would be much appreciated, I have tried many differnt styles of grow but have never tried the scrog because topping and supper cropping have alays been a success but I wanted to give this grow room a special fairwell and try soemthing new on its last harvest.

  9. Noble my apologies, for me the biggest hassle was the screen, it was either to flimsy, to rough on the young plants, to difficult to manage ..generally, just a ruddy hassle all round, and it's this aspect of the SOG idea that needs improvement.

I've not done a SOG for 5 years, last screen I used I made out bamboo garden stakes, but still proved such a hassle I wanted to automate it...lol laser beams and micro winches....lol

and yes sir I topped 'em to keep these little soldiers on the straight and level...lol

    good luck

  10. Its quite alright V. Thank you for the good information and tips. The thing with the scrog grow that im questioning is wether to grow 4 really big plants, I mean absolute monster by bending the branches outward or to grow a substantial amound of little guys to collect the tops.

  11. I suppose they would be little girls

  12. am wondering the same thing
