Which led grow lights actually work?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by nucleo, Aug 27, 2012.

  1. If a person was to invest in a led grow light where $ isn't really a problem, which 400w or more led panel has been proven to work in par with hps.

Now i'm not asking for better, just as good i want. Yes you could say it's a trade off watts for watts without the heat. Which ones actually work, that don't have problems, that have been tested and can say if you did a side by side comparison grow, you are happy enough to stick with the led yield and quality-wise over a hid.

Iv'e been reading a while, people sending back their units, some other units are defective because of the design, and some have outrageous claims that they can compete with a hid but in reality their yield is slightly lower. Watt for watt, i'm asking if you had the money which one would you go for and explain why? It's pretty obvious that no one wants to throw money at people who sell an inferior product that hasn't been on the market long enough. So people people, advise me!

  2. bumping thread

  3. Anything running 3w led diodes, or better. i do hear it doesnt improve much beyond 3-5w led's.

get atleast a true 300w led or better.

in full honesty, i own one. and it does work great for veg, but t-5's are about the same, and are about half the price.

  4. I'm honestly just concerned with it's flowering. Does it do well in flower? If you are just doing 1 plant in a 2x2 or 3x3 space scrog style, will it give the same results as a hps?

  5. LED Grow Lights | Black Dog LED | Plant Light

Only LED I've found with REAL 3-5 watt LED's that also has a lifetime warrenty.

I emailed them about the life of LED's,and what happens after 50,000-100,000.Do I need to buy a new one or can it be refurbished?

    This was their answer..

    Department: General

    Subject: LED life

Thanks to our industry exclusive lifetime warranty we would refurbish it at that point with you only paying for parts, not labor. We would also likely offer you an upgrade path depending on how the technology has progressed at that time.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Cheers,
    Noah

    Sincerely,
    Black Dog LED

If/when I go LED it will be these.

  7. Dont trust them because you think they produce less wattage than advertised or because of longevity of use??

less wattage out put than advertised. I've seen blackstars that are "200w" but put out like 120-150

  9. Yes i have also heard that but I have also heard ppl say they got what was advertised so it could be hit or miss.

  10. u can look at all sorts of video's of ppl testing different lights online

  11. I have the advanced led DS100 that I got right before flipping to flower on my little bonsai bud. The light works awesome.
    Check my sig.
If you have the money for two I'd suggest doing that.
If you ask for a coupon code it drops the price.
Comes with 90 day trial run. Money back.

Or the California lightworks solar flair or solar storm.
They have a program that cuts the price in half on the 400w light 50% so $499
There is one thread on here I follow that is using the 200w for 4 plants and they look great.
They are pretty big plants too.
Search on here for solar storm led grow it should show up?

    Just my two cents.

  12. Grow looks good man have you used any other led light in the past?

  13. Nope this is my first time growing.
Vegged her under one 6500k 125w cfl for 50 days and then I got my led and vegged for another 10 days or so under the led. And flipped to 12/12.

    *thanks by the way!

  14. for your next grow are you going to use the led and the cfl the entire time?

  15. I am going to go just led all the way.
It has the two switches on it for veg and flower. I am running it full spectrum both switches on.
I gave away my cfl to a friend when I got this led.
This light does great for veg and flower.
I had a white widow I started and it loved this light. I gave that to my friend with the cfl.

I am wanting to get another one of these ds100's to put side by side and double up my power and coverage.
Because I want to fill up with strains for SOG
Two of these lights will work great for 3-4 mid sized plants.

All the buds on my plant are very dense and super sticky.
Never stretched much at all. Stayed tight node clusters.

I just wish I vegged longer under the led. To come back from her topping.

  16. yes leds make VERY tight nodes and in junction also make very dense buds
