I just got a 400w hps system and it came with 2 bulbs,but they are unmarked...one has a dim yellow glow,and the other is a bright white bulb,from putting them in to make sure they work. So which is which..and which is best for veg?
The white one is the MH, veg The other which is orange looking like sunset is the HPS, flower But in reality you can use anyone for a successful grow GL
The HPS has a long stick in it, the MH has a fat little bubble in the middle. White is MH, red/orange whatever is HPS.
Yep yep the white is MH, you should use this on small vegetating plants. The HPS you can put in as soon as you switch to 12/12, but some people leave the MH for the first week or two until the buds begin to form, to help the stretch period.
yep, its the buds that like the yellow light! it takes a week for the hormones to change and it truly be flowering. until then its in veg. if they both sparked in an hps system the mh is a conversion bulb, but its easy to tell which is which, leave the one that glows "white" until 1 week after light switch, then "yellow" HPS that biatch
