Here's Annette Larkins who is 79 years old in this video and looks very good for her age. She's been vegetarian for 57 years and raw vegan for 30 years. https://www.facebook.com/AnnetteLark...1781476136688/ https://blackdoctor.org/annette-lark...hma-free-diet/ And here's Dr. Anthony Chaffee touting the exact opposite diet who says that he only eats meat and water. Here's an interesting video. I don't agree with every one of his conclusions but there are definitely anti nutrients that are not well understood by the public or even most scientists, such as lectins and oxalates. https://www.youtube.com/@anthonychaffeemd/about So which one is right? LOL! I do appreciate that this Dr. isn't trying to sell a product like most of the online gurus. Personally, I am mostly eating plants (greens, nuts, seeds) with some dairy and haven't eaten any meat for about 6 months. I'm always interested in learning more about this subject.
Omg there’s also a dog that is super old and his owner just feeds him scraps of his human food apparently (30 years old in dog years) . So all that expensive vet recommended foods don’t work as good as normal human food? I think it all has to be genetics, your diet can maybe help a little bit but if your organs have an expiration date it is what it is.
A friend just came off of a 6 month all meat diet. He ate two pounds of beef per day, nothing else. He reports many positives - his GI system is fixed; his dental plaque is all gone; his energy is back. He's slowly introducing a broader range of foods so we will see what happens. As for myself I eat closer to the Mediterranean diet although lately I'm leaning towards more meat. My doc said my iron is a touch low as it my B12. He said my bad cholesterol is super low fwiw.
For sure. You may have heard of Richard Overton who was a heavy cigar smoker and lived to be America's oldest man at 112 years old. "I smoke 12 a day," he told Cigar Aficionado in 2015, when he was 109 years old. “But I don't inhale them. It's the good taste. Let your lungs stay clean." https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/cigar-lover-richard-overton-america-s-oldest-man-dies-at-112 With the importance of genes established, My question is more about which diet is correct.
Unquestionably neither. Humans are omnivores for a reason and the drawbacks of both extremes and the benefits of incorporating both into your diet are well established. I don't think there's a provable answer for an optimal diet for longevity, namely because I think it literally will vary individual to individual.
Which diet is correct will depend on your genes though. Humans developed in different parts of the world and with different foods. What is in your local Walmart likely isn't the same stuff that you're ancestors were eating one, or two hundred years ago. Try to get as close to the diet of your ancestors as you can, and that will likely be the best diet for you. At the very least it will mean you are eating whole and not processed foods.
My best friend did that also. He retired and immediately gained about 30 pounds, and he was a bit overweight to begin with. He called it the 'carnivore diet' or something like that. He ate ground beef, steaks, roasts. The only veggies he ate were potatoes/carrots/tomatoes. He also ate SOME cheese but not much. Lost the weight in about 3-4 months and has kept on losing so he's dropped about 50 pounds. I'm not sure I could do that but it might be worth a shot.
My friend lost a bit a weight but he weighs nothing to begin with. Scrawny and sinewy are apt descriptors. This guy was a beast - noting but meat. Even when we went out to eat we'd all get a share of the veggies he asked for on the side. It was almost like he was keeping kosher, that's how strict he was. Interesting for sure.
Whichever one is less miserable than the other, my life is gonna be short enough without the added misery of eatin' shit I don't wanna swallow. But hey, maybe you wanna live forever...Me? No chance, and even if there were a chance, I'd want no part of it.
remember that old joke, "if I knew I was gonna live so long I'd of taken better care of myself". Well I & many others are older NOW & DEFINATELY wish they had taken better care of themselves.
I know for a fact I'm not livin' that long; you don't get to be an outlaw and have a long life...Those two are mutually exclusive.
I have seen parents that are vegetarians feed their new born babies an only vegetarian diet and end of starving the baby to death they end up getting charged with murder lmao
I take care of myself...I just don't have any plans to live past 50. You can live as long as you wish, and I can limit my lifetime as I see fit.
