Where to place the thermometer for temp readings

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by imageek, May 6, 2016.

  1. Sorry for the dumb questions guys but where should I be placing the thermometer to get temp readings?

I've currently got it under the light, directly. Light is about 28" from it.I have no plants in there yet, I'm running some tests to ensure I got everything setup right.

Slight issue with heat, I've actually now got it down 88F directly under the light but I've been told not to measure the temps from under the light. Where is the best place to get a reading in the tent?

  2. I use a few thermometers I have one outside my tent and 2 inside, you only need one really lol. I put mine inside my pot. And 1 one my tents pole.[IMG]hope it helps. I need to see your set up.
    Good Luck

  3. Will get a pic of setup later today. I need to pick up some ties as I've gone a bit happy with the duct tape. Temperature under the light right now is 84.7 - that's at about 28" from the bulb. I also have a fan pointing directly at the light from underneath which has helped drop the temperature.

  4. What kind of lights are you using? That's a good spot regardless

  5. 600W HPS in a 120x120x180 tent with a 80W inline extractor and a carbon filter pumped straight into the attic. I have 3 flaps open in the tent, 2 at the bottom, one at the top for air intake. Top one seems pointless as the filter is at the top of the tent so most is probably getting sucked up by the filter but it helps maintain temps.

    Pics will be ready shortly.

  6. I have a few in each room. One on the floor, one on a rope hanging below the light and one in the corner. I use them to show me how well I'm circulating/replacing the air in the room.

  7. Hi.. yep i av one in pot and humidy/temp tester on tent poll. Heat raises but to be honest they bother normallt same readings more or less. Temp is a huge issue. I grow in a heat wave and was hard work.. my of my fellow growets lost their crops that yr. (dont normally have heat waves in uk lol but i had a crop on go like an idiot lol) but defo get temp sorted love as along side learning to grow and a temp issue will be a night mare. Xxx

  8. Yes I like to use a couple a manual and 2 digital sometimes I find the manual one to works better with humidity! At least I think it does you. Sometimes there could be a 10 to 15% humidity in thermometers. But they're pretty accurate overall my temperatures have been good actually I'm in the USA.
