went to home depot and searched damn near the whole store and never found anything...and then i asked a guy and he didnt even know what it was and asked me what i was using it for, kind of made for an awkward moment anyways anyone know where i can pick some of this stuff up? maybe a type of place that would carry it so i can check there, really looking to pick it up locally

use tinfoil...dull side out. cheap and does the same thing. Mylar can be bought at ANY hydro shop FLEX
If you have a Party City near you, they have shiny mylar "tissue paper"... comes in a pack of like 15 sheets for like 3 bucks or something.
i just copped some of that yesterday. it was like $3.49 for 15 sheets. havent put it up yet though, gotta wait another 8 hours before the light turns back on
thats cool bout the partycity thing, thats gonna work well I feel and be cheap. Foil doesnt work for shit, 54% reflectivity or something like that, mylar is like 95%. and white paint is like 68%
u sure that mylar paper is mylar and not just mylar like? there must be a thickness issue with mylar. if u can see thru it, its not as reflective as u think and not the best product. lets go and do a bit of math. lets pretend that u grow 1 plant x 5 times a year. each plant = 500$ worth of weed so 5x500=2500$/year. mylar is maybe 50$ for a small growroom to light up the place. lets say that the mylar increases the yield by even 5% (easily a conservative #) that is 125$ over the year for a 50 $ investment. now lets say u grow 10 plants x 5/year x 500/per = 25000$. now for 50$ investment, u get 1250$ return on it. good mylar is not expensive when u start to think about it.

Yeah, if you have the money for it, go for the mm thick mylar, from a hydro shop.... But, im cheap, and it works way better than the white posterboard i had up before. But, it is really thin.
Same here, she offered me 36w "Grow light"- wtf i am suppused to with that, warm my ass on cold nights?
before i put this up, anyone know if this is a big fire hazard? my friend said to me "it IS tissue paper" so maybe its not a good idea inside a warm grow room near a bright light?
Using the party stuff may pose a risk but half the shit in a grobe would lol wood...dead leaves...ect I think most who go the extra mile to get 400+ watt hps/mh go for thick mylar or stick with that white polar reflective roofing paint while people who use flo lighting don't bother I suggets you either go flo with the party sheets or hit up a depot for a single 30 some dollar 5 gallon bucket of the white roofing paint
^^^ see thats my problem. i cant pait anything cause i live in an apt, plus im using trash bags as the "walls" of my growroom for the spots not just pressed up against the closet wall. any suggestions?
Build a grobe is probably your only option for a good grow once you get to flower you'll end up with hermies if it isn't totally light proof You can probably swing it with cardboard painted up with the stuff and 2x2s for framework the 2x2s are cheap as fuck..bout 13 bucks for a dozen 9ft pieces as is a bunch of cheap boxes and a nailgun to put it all together add the mylar or mylar like stuff or just paint the cardboard white pretty sure if you're worried about fire hazard you can find white paint thats fire retardent
Like i said, im really cheap, so, i went with the party city "mylar". Poses no fire hazard, because it IS mylar... just really thin compared to the kind you can buy at a grow shop. I used it on my grow (6 35w cfls), and heat hasnt been a problem or anything. So, if youre low on money, and using flouros, it really helped me out. Reflects a lot more light than the white poster did... When i actually build my box, ill use something different.
