Where is that wonderful smell?

  1. Is it normal to have plants that don't smell? I harvested an indoor crop beginning of June and it had very little smell to it. Its been dried and is on its second week of curing in mason jars. However, that mouth-watering scent just isn't there. Was interested if anyone else came across this? The seed was from some decent smoke I had saved. I have sampled the nugs and it seems to be getting stronger as the cure continues on. I am growing some ak47 indoors and its 4 weeks into flowering and it smells like heaven. I just have never encountered a non-smelling plant before.

  2. the only thing i can think of is you left it to long and the thc has been beprived but tht nearly allways when outside dnt knw why thts happened real mistery there mate. How did you grow and cure the yield?

  3. Grew indoors under a large bank of flouros. Veg for 3 weeks and flowered for 8-9 weeks. The crazy thing was, it didn't smell at all while growing. After cutting down, there was some but not much for 6 plants. Dried for a week and has now cured for 2 weeks in glass jars. The smoke tastes great. Have sampled along the way and it seems to be getting stronger (the buzz) as the cure continues. I am not complaining, don't get me wrong! I have never encountered plants that don't smell.

  4. yeah cool have fun with the buzz. Should tasate even better soon how you drying your stuff I needa hand wit drying Im trying ta do it out doors, lol outta be fun and risky. Can you help me out... Cheers

  5. I just strung the whole plant upside down and let dry for a week in my basement. I don't know about outside. It might dry too fast. I have heard that light and heat break down the THC. Also, the faster the dry, the harsher the smoke. You might try a brown paper bag or cardboard box that can keep light out and keep it out of direct sunlight. Open 1-2 times per day and roll the bud gently, not to damage the beautiful trichs. I would keep an eye on it though because it wouldn't take long to dry outside. Then put them in glass jars or plastic containers to let them cure. My basement is around 65-70 degrees and perfect humidity. i think that is the main ingredient to a good cure.

  6. Thanks but i live in england and it is never the hot it gna be about ur basement temp when i harvest so should be ok. Should i pot plant them in the thorns cause it has like an acre of thorns or should i make a patch in the middle which noone can see and plant them in there whtu think?

  9. dont listen to prodigy, no offense prodigy, but you shouldnt try to answer questions that you have no idea about.
THC doesnt have a smell, what your smelling from your AK47 plants are the oils the plant makes, not the THC.
Northern lights is netorious for having little or no smell, and it is still an excellent smoke.

  10. Thanks for the info. Great pic by the way. Happy growing to all. Peace...

  11. i need do some more research or smthing lol and keep up to date, soz bout that chichargo. You learn something new every day!

  12. ^^^^This hommies right. Some plants just naturally smell far less than others. It has absolutley nothing to do with the thc. Thc is a blend between plant genetics, the way it's grown, and the way it's cured. Not the way it smells.

  13. ok, ok u live and u learn....

  14. i would think having a plant that still produces a sweet high and has little odor would be awesome, and a desired characteristic for places it is still illegal to grow.

  15. Chicago, why don't you have a journal man! I am currently growing AK47 too, and I want to know as much about it as possible.

Like people have already said, smell sometimes is just not in a plants genetics, which isn't necissisarily a bad thing.
