So I have trouble telling when exactly my plant should be harvested since going by the colored hairs and everything isn't the right way to tell, and even though it may look like it is close to done, or 1 week from being finished.. it may not be and it might not be at its peak level. I don't have my 12 Mega Pixel camera to use since I can't find the battery charger for it, and the only thing I have is an iPhone camera.. which takes great photos. but not good enough to see a macro that good enough to see the cloudiness of the THC crystals. So I was wondering where exactly DO they sell the 30x magnification glasses? I thought that they only sold those at headshops or online.. but then I thought I read and remembered that they sell them, and probably sell them at maybe Wal-Mart and Radioshack ? Maybe other places? I don't know where to go and look .. but I never really thought about it too much, but now that I have I realize... those can be used for much much more than looking at bud.. and I am sure the real purpose of those are much different and vary greatly. I just always thought they were used only for bud and hence me thinking only sold at headshops or online. So where could I find one of these?
Why would a magnifying glass only be sold in headshops? They're sold all over the place. Dollar stores, wal mart, book stores, thrift stores, headshops, probably not radio shack. I think no one answered because they assumed you could figure this one out
Well I couldn't figure it out since I had gone to Wal-Mart... nothing there. Only thing was those 2x magnifying glasses.. and I went to Staples and they had only 7 1/2 x and they had a higher one... I believe maybe fifteen or more.. not sure, but it was a desk lamp with one on it.. and I didn't want to buy that just to chop it off and use it.. as well as pay a lot more money for something like that.

Haha my Galaxy S3 has an app called "Magnify" and I can see the trichomes on my weed with no trouble.
Check a craft store like Michael's. Ask for a jewelry loup. I got one online for 3 bucks. Took about a week to arrive in the mail. By that time your plants will probably be at peak potency, you can check em with the scope, and chop them down. I think most people harvest too soon, so waiting for the mail might push you to wait longer and get a better end product. Early harvest sucks. It tastes bad, smokes bad, and weighs less than if you let it go long enough. IMO the pistil ARE a good way to judge ripeness. Any amount of white pistils means the plant is still maturing and growing. When they are almost all (like 95%) brown AND receding into the buds, then it's ready to harvest. The curling up pistils are the kicker. If they are still standing up straight, even if they are brown, it's not ready IMO.
I just got a 30x/60x combo one off ebay for $5.99 w/free ship pining. Looking forward to examining some of the buds I have on now.
