I am wondering if there is any particular color of light, or spectrum (other than using night-vision goggles!) that would be safe to use during the dark, flowering period. I seem to recall seeing green-colored light in grow rooms...but where? Too many episodes of Weeds, or? Thanks in advance!
During 12/12 you have 12 full hours of light every day during which to tend to your plants. Leave the dark dark. Some will say you can use a green light. And true that MJ doesn't "see" green light (the plant appears green to us because all other light is absorbed, what we see is what is reflected). But, many "green bulbs" out there only appear green to our eyes but also put out light frmo other color spectra, so it's risky to use a green bulb.
I'm with dude up there u have half the day for fuckin around let the plants sleep in peace what could u do in there during lights out that can't wait plus why run the risk just my 2 lincols worth
What would I do in there? What would I do? Well, um, I would watch grass grow, and putter around, and obsess over the color of that leaf...and just...well , I would just be doing what new mothers DO when they have new babies. I'd watch 'em sleep, ha! Seriously tho I'd have no business being in there...
Nutes, temps, lights, light cycles, water quality, spectrums, security, cloning, ect. ect.ect. Still the hardest thing to learn.......................Patience. peace B
During the dark period, the plants aren't sleeping. That's one of the most retarded things I keep seeing in these forums. During the dark period, Pfr turns into Pr and triggers flowering. Pr is only affected by red light. However, as light passes thru the leaves, it gets red shifted. So if you want to look at your plants and not distrube the conversion of Pfr to Pr, use a blue light - not green. -Loki
You really think it's OK to use a blue light (such as MH perhaps or daylight CFLs?) in the middle of a flowering MJ plant's dark cycle? Good luck with those hermies... The hormonal reaction to flower is caused much more by the length of the dark period than by the color spectrum of the light. though it isn't advisable, you could flower under a 6500k MH. I stick by my original answer -- no light during the dark period, otherwise it isn't a dark period and can screw up your plants. There's no need to be in there during dark.
Flowering isn't affected by the spectrum at all. Its all about converting Pfr to Pr. It takes about 10 hours of darkness for Pfr to turn into Pr. Any red light during the dark period causes Pr to turn back into Pfr. A blue light (pure blue, not blueish ie MH) won't cause Pr to turn back into Pfr and thus is safe to use during the dark period. -Loki
