when will this girl be finished?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by valerien, Sep 20, 2011.

  1. hello blades,

I didn't keep an accurate journal during my veg process of this plant. I figure I must of made a mistake in regards to how far along I thought it was when I purchased the advanced nutreints line of products somewhere at the end of veg/beginning of flower...I began flushing this girl on 8/29. Well I still have some hairs that arent orange... my leaves are not turning yellow.. It's pretty obvious I was premature on this. I planted this seed at the beginning of June... it's a bag seed from a strain called 'the goo' so maybe it just takes its time..

I don't want to give it nutes after flushing right? should I just give it plain RO water from here? keep flushing with Final Phase?

I'm horrible at looking at the trichs on this thing becuase I can't hold it in my hand. leaning over and trying to focus with a magnifying glass is no fun. from what I can tell the trichs are super cloudy and there is some amber scattered around but its no where near a 80/20 or 50/50 type ratio i'd like to finish it at.

She needs water tonight, so.... any advice is appreciated.

  2. That is a pretty spectacular use of zip ties.

    Mad props.

  3. Ok so all those new little growths with white hairs is something called foxtailing, it occurs when there's stress or it's just gentics. Don't let those fool you though, the bud with the orange hairs is what you have to look at, or else you'll be waiting for the foxtails to mature and the rest will be way too mature. By the looks of the rest of the buds though they look done. Check again with your scope but don't look at it on the plant, you cut a very small peice off that you feel represents you harvest well and place it on something white on a table. If the lower bud still has some growin to do besides the foxtails then you can leave them on for a little while longer.

  4. okay I just have to work up the courage to snip off a piece of that main cola and take a better look.

I was discussing this with someone who's getting into the medical cannabis business out here and he said if all my sun leaves are still green that it's not mature enough yet. I'm probably going to give it plain RO water tonight and begin the 48 hours of darkness thursday for a nice Saturday morning harvest if it looks amber enough under the scope.

what happens if certain parts of the plant mature for too long? I've read on other threads that you want to wait for the pistols to sink into the plant before harvesting...

  5. It will contain to manny cannibinoids wich will make it a couchlock giggly high. Some times I'll even get head aches from bud that was over mature when I'm coming down. But yea cut a piece off and take a look at it. It dosn't have to big at all, if it only has like 20 trichs on there that'd be good just make sure not to damage the trichs when you're handling it. When I cut a piece off it usually sticks to the scissors and then I'll knock it of gently with something, I try to not touch the piece at all but if it sticks then I'll flick it off or something. Gl!

  6. She looks really nice(just thought you should know that). However, I would give her another week, and then chop. Looking at trichs tells you a lot, but many people cut a piece and WANT to see more amber(so they do), when in actuality they are not as amber as one would like. We all tend to want to cut to soon. IMO, give her a little more time, and you will have a better smoke.

  7. thanks! :hello:

I read up more on foxtailing and I think I am going to wait longer. I did not bother to snip yet and will sometime next week. Gave her some pure RO water today @6.3ph.

  8. so the foxtail pistols have been turning orange, a few tails are all the way orange. I was hoping to start my 48 hours of darkness at the end of this week... my fat cat jumped onto my tent though and which shook the plant fairly severely.. this girl was so top heavy, her main stalk bent and although did not "snap" it broke enough that I could not get it to support itself even with zipties. For this reason I went ahead and harvested the top 50% of the the plant today (essentially everything off of the main stalk on the top half of the plant). There are a dozen+ small colas all around the bottom half of the plant that I want to give another week or so to mature since there are white pistols on every cola I did not harvest.

  9. will take pics of the main cola when it's done drying. been hanging upside down with a small fan blowing on it in the closet almost 12 hours now.

  10. okay it's not done but here's 1 pic of what was harvested due to the accident described above as well as a few shots (with and without flash if there are duplicate looking images) of what's left of the plant. I'm excited for this girl to finish as it IS my 2nd plant I've grown, my first was not in soil and I had lots of PH problems.. I made it to harvest with the 1st plant but it's a very harsh and undesired smoke.
