When We Invent Time Travel

Discussion in 'Pandora's Box' started by Atheism Cant Be Proven, Jun 17, 2013.

  1. Everything, every experience in world history will be deemed worthless.  Time machines could change EVERYTHING.

Whoever does invent it...I hope they don't tell anyone about it. Or at least I wouldn't. You can't put a price on changing the past.

    BUT

If you did change the past, then would the creator ever invent it in the future, or would they alter time TOO much?

    ALSO

Maybe someone in the future has invented time travel and we just don't know it. (Maybe they've already changed the present).

  4. The future hasn't happened yet though.  I believe if someone invented time travel in the future it wouldn't be applied to the past until the future is the present and then they can go back.  If I invented it I would go back, bet a couple sports games.  Destroy it.  Then I'd buy an island.  Live there and smoke/grow weed.  Biff had the best idea he was just corrupt as fuck.  I thought hot tub time machine was funny though.  Loogle. or w/e.

I also found the movie The Time Machine's interpretation interesting.  "You can't change the past".  No matter how many times he tried to save his girl she died a different way.  I don't believe that would actually be a reality though if we did invent it.

  5. So you believe in different time-space's coexisting at once? Interesting. I think there's only one, being constantly contaminated and us not knowing it.

Have you seen The Butterfly Effect? One of my fav's. Really depicts how you can change your whole life with one small move.

  6. Paradoxes.

    Different time streams.

Won't change the present history, more than likely.

Spacetime is a ball of wibbly-wobbly timey wimey. Certain things can change, some can't, but everything is sorta dynamic and free flowing.

  7.
Unless all possible futures have happened we just havent observed one yet..time travel is only half of it next will be the challenge of staying in the same timeline

  8. Yup, we perceive time as occurring straight in order, but it's predicted time is occurring all at once, with infinite possibilities and time streams.

  9. What if the inventor of the time machine sold positions of power? Like you pay him 50 million and he goes back a few years and makes you oprah?

    Crazy shit

I watched a german movie with a similar plot, this girl is trying to save her boyfriend from drug dealers or something and it showed like 3 different outcomes and in each one she died in a different way just because of how she like bumps into this guy while shes running out of her apartment, which changes the following events to an exponential degree.

    (theres no time travel though)

  11. I think time travel is real but not as maleable as we would think.

It's not like you can go back in time and all of the sudden you gain all these superpowers and can just change significant events however you please...

But yes i agree, i believe we really dont know much about our history and majority of it is pure speculation.

  12. Personally i think if you went and changed the past it would just split off into an alternate timeline/dimension and continue on it's path. Now wether you could get back to your original timeline/universe is another story.

  13. If time travel exists then time travelers are already here. Time is not linear like we perceive it. That's just how carbon based life evolved to see it. All time exists on one instantaneous point.

  14. I don't presently believe that time travel into the past is possible because you can travel into the future by going faster than the speed of light. How do you reverse this and go backwards?

Other than that I love the idea of time travel and if it ever is invented I'm going to buy one and travel through time helping people and going on adventures like a cheesy TV show :smoke:

  15. Its not possible. You need to build the start now so in the future you could come back to now. The problem is we don't even know how to begin let alone start building the first starting point.

  16. I don't understand your post, can you elaborate.

  17. tell me how time travel would be possible

  18. There's several ideas, but nothing with substance.
