I'm considering trying an outdoor grow this summer, but I need to know when the best time to start. I want to grow out some clones, and get them started inside, then transplant them to nature. Strain: I have a sativa-dominant plant i got from Marihuanaseeds.nl. It was supposed to be N.L. but it def can't be (long story). It's allmost impossible to keep under 2 meters (6 feet) and that's when I put it on 12/12 at one feet high. Early finisher (8 weeks) and very forgiving and easy to grow. I'm in Northern Europe, and my summer isn't too sunny or warm. We usually have a couple of good summer weeks (that's two or three) in june/juli and the good weather comes in late april or early may. The thing I'm worried about is the frost in beginning of october. It really rains alot here, so frost may not come until desember... Do ya'll think I'll be able to get a decent harvest up here in the north? Will it finish in time? Any tips?
Anyone??? I have decided to buy some Thyphoon 09 from denmark and try to germinate in mid/late April. Hopefully I will have a decent harvest in september...
you have to check the climate conditions. im going out next month. the frost is over. im goin to try 12/12 them inside for 3-4 weeks, then throw them out B4 the days get too long. then im going to 2nd round with 8-12 in talls around May to get a natural grow cycle. im in south US.
Ok. I am at 60' N and in a rainy part of the country. I have decided to plant straight from seeds in mid April. Since I am so far north, I have to have a special, acclimatized strain with semi-autoflowering traits. This will be Thyphoon 09 from Thy-park in Denmark. This has been grown successfully as far north as Finland. With theese seeds I'll harvest in september I belive. Let's just cross our fingers for a nice and sunny summer!
Check your Farmers Almanac and see when the last frost is, i usuasally start about 2 weeks after the last frost just to be safe. You could start a week sooner if you wish. but the risk of your plant dying would be higher.
Will do, but I belive it's in march... It's not too cold here, it's just really wet. It rains alot and summer is usually kind of "split". We usually get a very nice may with blue skies almost every day. Not too warm, but nice. then it starts to rain on and off through june or juli, but with periods of warm sunny weather. August and september is the same, just not as warm.
So just double check the almanac for your area. But don't forget to prep your grow spot around now, place your soil and blood/bone meal, and worm castings etc, into your grow spot to let it soak in and make your soil as rich as it can be.
Hehe... we got snow and frost now man! But I'm expecting it to rain away soon. And when it's gone, it ain't coming back (well, there's never any guarrantees). I'm not even going out to try to find a spot yet. I'll wait for the snow to dissappear and then I'll go looking for a nice spot. I have some ideas though... I'm planning on just bringing some good nutritious Canna Terra soil with me, digging up an area and mix the good soil with the original topsoil. Alternatively I'll just dig some holes to fit 10L buckets in, and fill them with the Canna Terra soil. It supposedly helps with temps in the soil in fall. Will this suffice? Do you think I can find this almanac online?
It just started fucking snowing again! God damn it! Now I'll have to wait for another couple of weeks to go out and find a spot...
DO NOT GROW IN BUCKETS!!! hahah well you can, but it will decrease your plants optimum yield because it constricts the roots. Without a bucket the roots can keep growing, thus making your plant getting much bigger. And i also must say, prepare your grow asap. Failure to prepare, is preparation for failure. Just remember that.
hehe. There's still fucking snow and freezing mate. Don't think I can perpare my grow before sometime in april. Thanks for the replies man.
