When to harvest

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by abes, Mar 19, 2007.

  1. I have one female indica plant, grown outdoors, that has a lot of false seed pods but not a whole lot of stigmas except on a couple of buds lower on the plant. The top has very few actually. I have been putting her in the garage so she gets 12-14 hours of uninterrupted darkness. I’m wondering when I should harvest her? Will more stigmas come out of the pods toward the top with more time? Some of the pods are opening.
    Thanks for your input.

  3. Don't know about false seed pods dude. . .

  4. looks like a male dude, cut that down so it doesnt pollinate any one elses crop, or better yet make some cannibutter :smoking: stay high

  5. its a hermie, i saw both sexes. looks predominately male. i suggest you read a tad more on growing marijuana outdoors. :) our forums are wonderful! pretty plant nonetheless!

[edit] does anyone else think he should keep some of that polen... that male looks pretty nice, and has some nice color. maybe breed it with a really strong female next time you plant.. could make for some excellent seeds.

  6. This is a male?

  7. it does have some female pistils, however, as someone pointed out this plant is predominantly male making it a hermie...overabundance of male flowers all over it.

  8. crap! should i snip the fem parts and try to salvage them? I want somethin' to smoke outta it dammit! Make Bubble hash out of the rest maybe? Dunno how it turned hermie. I had two plants to begin with, but one got stunted went we got a really cold week awhile back here in socal so I yanked it. I thought it was before it even sexed. The thing was like 6 inches tall. Oh well...
That frost or neighbors lights probably turned it Hermie huh?
    :devious:

I chopped the he/she. We'll see how the Hermie Hash turns out! I'll post a pic of the brick when it's done!

  9. No offence but that thing is hidious, i cannot stand looking at male plants.

  10. Nah none taken. I totally agree. Especially after checkin out this site and some of the beauties you guys have grown. This was a no maintainence/ backyard lets see what happens thing. Next time I'll try to do the right thing. I guess it's probably pretty hard to grow backyard in a neighborhood, just leave it out there and get sensi. Especially when you start mid winter and have it flowering as spring hits. Even though I live in a city with "The best climate in the world!" After reading a bunch here, i'm surprized it even stayed alive. LOL I thought it was fem, or hoped it was cuz it started off that way, but knew something was up when it had so few stigmas. Saved some pollen in the freezer just in case I wanna cross later for a couple seeds, but chopped that tranny down right away.

PS - This site has an unbeliveable group of knowledgeable peeps! Stoked I came on it. Don't hold my first semi attempt at grownin' against me!:D

  11. exessive stress on mj is the leading reason why hermies show. that cold weather couldve done it.

  12. abes : im in socal too and it seems as though we started growing around the same time (i tossed some old bagseeds in the yard around oct-nov maybe and amazingly got 1 to grow, also it was really bad weather during that time so i thought it died but i guess the rain kept it alive), anyways long story short about last month i realize theres a good 2 ft. mj plant in my yard and it was beginning to smell a bit...sadly it started showing full signs of being a male, so i cut it down about a week ago....be thankful that your plant has at least a few buds growing rather than none at all:hello:

paul2pt: glad to know its the bad weather and not the streelight that was the cause of my plant to turn male...summer is getting close so my new plants should be fine :smoking:

  13. det0ks - nice, ya that one week of frost we had I was in mainland mex. So, the plant was on it's own. I put it where it would get some sprinkler water, but I guess the weather really jacked it up. Bummer too it was a couple weeks into to flower when I left! Oh well... It was wrong time of year really anyway. Things will be right this time around for both of us ;)

I'm just wondering about neighborhood lights screwin up flowering. The yard is pretty dark, but there is definately some light here and there. Hopefully, someone who knows can answer that question. I'd love to get some durban poison x skunk seeds and see how a mostly sativa strain would grow here!

    Stay high...:smoking:
