Im using 4600K Daylights. Do I chose when to switch the bulbs and change the light sched. to put my plants into flowering orrr do they chose when ? Also from seedling about how long untill I can point out the males and pull them from the group ?
You can switch to 12/12 whenever you want. Remember that plants usually double their size once in flowering. And I've heard about 1-2 weeks after switching to 12/12 you can see the sex.
They are only about 3 inches high. When about should I switch to 12/12 ? or how about 18/6 ? Im not sure on all this. They are on 24hr now.
Pretty much same answer I would have given!!!!!!!! + rep Some strains tend to show earlier then 2 weeks , but 2 weeks is probably your best bet.!!!
I'm pretty sure you only use 18/6 for veg if you wanna cut down on your bill/heat in the grow area. But it all depends on how much of a yield you want. If you just wanna grow it quickly, you could flower right now, but you won't get much. The bigger the plant, the bigger the yield. It's really up to you and what you want out of the experience.
Some strains/phenos will show sex as early as 3 weeks veg - even under 24 hours of light. Keep an eye on the upper nodes for signs of pre-flowers. 18/6 in veg will help some strains/phenos show sex faster. I always use 24/0 for veg though.
