  1. hey guys, first i would like to say thanks to the GC community for helping along with my grow and helping me save my plant when it was almost dead. It about 7-8 weeks into flowering and some of the hairs are turning brown, but for the most part they are white/clear. this plant really has few crystals forming on it, not sure why might be the strain which is unknown.i hear that the best way in deciding when its ready for harvest is to check the color of the crystals , amber and so forth. So this being my first time growing and not being sure of the strain, when should I cut er down? Ill try to post some pics if I can find the camera. Thanks guys and please respond if you have ever made it this far and came out with some good weed, I dont want to over grow OR under grow so time is of the essence. thanks guys:smoking:

  2. Hey.

Pistils and trichomes is two different things. The pistils turn brown/red/pink/purple depending on strain. The trichomes goes from clear to milky to amber/brown. You need something like a pocket microscope to see these trichomes. I tried with a jewellers lupe (30x) but that wasn't enough magnification.
You can see the trichomes but it's hard to see if they're milky or amber...

That's why you need a microscope. I got one from 60x to 100x. Then you can see the trichomes clearly and what colour/stage they are. That's really the only way you can tell how far along you are.

You can get one of these microscopes at ebay...
