When to add molasses?

  1. To make things easier for me i measured 3 tbsp in 4.5 gallons of water with 2 air stones running in it. My seeds popped 2 days ago, Its a small grow and I wont be using all the 4.5 gallons for a week or so. I wanted to know if its okay to have the molasses premixed into my water. One guy told me to only add it when Im about to water the plants but gave no reasoning and I couldn't find an answer online.

  2. The only time I use molasses is at end of grow. It's basically a benign substance. I'm in Coco Loco

  3. Molasses is Most beneficial at flowering, but cant hurt when used at all parts of the growing stage when growing with organic nutrients. Unless maybe if its added to a resovoir and not adding it only when im going to water them, which is what im tryng to find out.

  4. Just found this on another forum, guess ill be dumping this bucket of molasses water lol

    • “Mix up only enough solution for a single watering, as molasses water will grow bacteria and wild yeasts/fungi in short order -- if you really feel the urge to mix up a significant volume, keep it covered and refrigerated (under 40°F).”

  5. Yes molasses causes the water to thicken up after a few days just setting in bucket, so if you use it just mix up what you want and feed.

  6. I used it once and never again, its actually already inside one of my nutrient bottles.

I didn't see any difference from adding more either, no faster nute absorption etc

  7. Never use molasses??? Care to explain?

  8. Gotcha! Well im using dry organic nutrients added to the coco and ive read its only beneficial when using the correct dosage.

  9. Yeah bro organics is hard, this is how I grow, bottled bio bizz and all-mix soil.

Coir is much harder and I don't see why people do it for a few extra gs of weed, especially organic you are asking for problems.

Literally PH will drop and up every single day

  10. Tbh the biggest reason i chose coco is the lack of pests and minimal effort other than having to make sure I dont let them dry out. Im not new to horticulture but i am new to cannabis specific horticulture. Appreciate all the help I can get!

  11. I dunno bro if you grow indoor in a tent and you keep the space clean and tidy, don't let the pots be wet constantly and you'll get no bugs at all mate.

I'm on my 4th grow indoors and I've never used a pesticide, fungicide etc. I've never seen a bug at all in my indoor weed

  12. Man some idiots will spray over their cannabis plants with pesticides and fungicides to 'prevent' bugs and mold, when no doubt, they don't even need to, people smoking some crazy shit on their weed yanno and it's unlikely you'll have bugs in your grow space unless you're a dirty fucker who never washes or wears dirty clothes in ya grow set up. Keeping windows open in the grow room is a no go, you may then let knats in etc.

  13. You’re lucky, i have some maples and figs outdoors which seem to have pest problems every year just didnt want to deal with it indoors if possible. As far as the pH of the coco changing i havent heard that before unless you forgot to ph your water, im not sure how the coco would fluctuate so much. Just incase i have a soil pH pen and the coco has been 6.9-7.2 for a week now without a full watering yet. Ill be sure to monitor the coco pH though.

  15. According to my leader the great Scott Ostrander from nectar for the gods. Said its a yield killer. I also believe if over used it can clog plants pores and cause rot

  16. Thanks for the info. Ill look into what he has to say. And thanks, if i do end up using it ill stick to the lower end of the dosage to start.

  18. Scrolling through scotts youtube, i found this

From what I understood using small amounts of molasses can increase microbial activity in the soil. Im trying to stay away from using bottle nutes as much as possible. Surely in small amounts, it cant hurt?
