Whenever i hear about legalizing marijuana, they also say it will be taxed. I'm assuming that means that it will cost more, but correct me if i'm wrong
It will cost probably 1/4 to 1/2 the price that it does now because it will be so widely availble. Even with the tax.
commercially produced dank will likely hit 100/oz while boutique-ey stuff will probably stay as high as 250/oz
Actually Phamas, there is some decent fear that pot will be commoditized too quickly and if prices go too low most of the real breeding talent will leave for a more lucrative field.
I don't know that we'll see prices fall prior to full legalization, to be quite honest. If California legalized, there will probably still be a big issue with federal law unless the feds agree to respect the states rights regarding the issue. Also, California, while one of the best places for weed, doesn't make up 100% of the market. Therefor, the black market prices may very well still influence the price of legal weed in California. I think the biggest change will come when there is no more need for black market cannabis. In other words, full, federal legalization. That's when the market will really change. Black market prices will dissolve, even if heavily taxed the prices will be much lower than what they currently are.
knowing my luck ill go out that day and hit up my dude man for an 8th of dank for 60, then drive by 7-11 and see like an ounce for 60 of dank or some shit.. im stoned idk
From research we've done planning several businesses for post legalization in CA But beyond that its just common sense, you can already go onto one of the many patient-patient boards and find indoor dank for 200/oz delivered. You just have to know where to look.
Look people, the prices WILL drop a lot. It HAS to or the stores wont put the dealers out of business. Look, how much does a pack of rolling tobacco cost? I'm looking online and see a 5.4 ounce pack of American Spirit tobacco for $25. That means it costs $4.63 for an ounce of tobacco. Also, I've never grown tobacco but from what I hear, it takes a lot more time, effort, and money to grow tobacco than it does marijuana. Think about how much money the tobacco companies are pulling in. Now, if marijuana costs less to manufacture than tobacco, companies could sell an ounce for $5 (without tax) and make HUGE profits. So lets say they double that price to make even more money and add on the $50-an-ounce tax, that means an ounce or marijuana could cost you the consumer $60. When legalized, I see no rational reason why the consumer would pay any more than $100 an ounce for marijuana.
The thing you're forgetting nuts, is that the quality of a mass produced lowest common denomonator ciggerette vs. home grown tobacco hand cut and cured and rolled into cigarillos. The reality is since MJ has been illegal we havn't seen what the lowest common denomonator MJ "pack of joints" quality is going to be. I assume dirt weed with chemicals added to simulate the high. There will always be room for high quality niche producers.
And just so you know herb is one of the easiest plants to grow, that right there should tell you that it will cost very little for a lot.
easiest plants to grow outdoors And just because it's "easy" doesn't mean everybody will be able to do it? Wiring an electrical outlet is a very simple process requiring rudimentary knowledge and skill, but I guarantee you if given the choice between buying a book and learning how to wire a socket, many people will just hire a guy to do it and spend the time on internet porn.
Haha that made me laugh . And yea I have absolutely no doubt that marijuana prices will go down after it becomes legalized. I really cannot wait untill the day that marijuana becomes like alchol. I can just imagine people breaking out the bud (instead of wine) at dinners and like compairing which bud is tastier, better smelling, better high etc. Lol idk i thought that the last time i was baked
I have this theory in which the day cannabis becomes legal, that day will become a holiday to marijuana users. It will be the next 420!!!
"Americans" -goodbadugly that is a stereotypical comment good. i am american and i am not lazy. nowhere near it. i am unemployed at the moment because someone fucked up, but i wish i could work. then, when not at work, id work at home, and improve the place. not all americans are lazy.
Touche sir. Although, I find it hard to believe that the quality would get watered down so badly because some of the breeding talent saying fuck this. If that's such a huge issue won't people just grow it on their own when it's legalized anyway??
