when is weed gonna be legal?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by ewiw, Mar 16, 2012.

1. Have any of you guys ever thought that it would end up like cigarettes?

Like they put in additives to the cannabis to make it addicting and life-threatening. I personally don't feel like this would happen because the demand for natural cannabis would overpower the corporations' desires to pollute it.

Or they would do it anyways and we're all fucked lol

2. It won't be legal, as useful as it is, it would fuck over every industry (expect food) so a lot of people would be out of jobs, and the government would lose a lot of money and it would also cancel out their population control, so that's why Booze and Smokes are legal, they're addictive, damaging, expensive and regulated by the government, total opposite of weed.

3. If the Government could help it, never. Realistically, however, I would say within 10 years.

4. The way I see it public approval of legalization should just keep going up and up. I mean as more people get educated they in turn educate others. Also we've got free information via the internet now and there's no stopping the truth. I mean realistically what more can the government do to stop the momentum? All of their old lies and fear mongering tactics have largely been debunked and now they just have the same old bs about 'drugs are bad', pot makes people lazy, mj legalization sends a bad message to the kids and that use would go up.

Also soon all of the super ignorant/brainwashed old people are gonna start to die off. Despite presenting all of the facts and logic my grandfather still to this day thinks that mj is the 'devil's weed' and that society would go down in a whirlpool or carnage and depravity if it were legal.

Realistically what will our government do if we end up with something like 60+% of the population in favor of legalizing? There's no new propaganda to churn out and despite all of their efforts they just can't find anything that harmful about this plant.

5. It should be legal pretty soon, but I kind of hope not because the government will fuck us with it and tax it like hell, plus its more thrilling, and better money getting it illegally.

500,000 letters to congressmen aint shit when he gets $500,000 from pharmaceutical companies to keep it illegal.

500,000 votes can change the outcome of an election! And Rep Cross, a REPUBLICAN LEADER, sure seems to have stopped listening to Big Pharma! So sometimes the FACTS speak louder than money!

The thing is that the US has signed UN treaties saying that they will keep it illegal. If they violated that treaty it could be really bad.

“Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs” ? Since when has signing a treaty ever stopped the US Government from doing whatever is decided to do? Ask the original occupants of America just how well our government keeps its treaties!

The US does not lead the UN.

But guess just which country is "one of the most influential Parties to the Single Convention", and has "tended to oppose" loosening cannabis laws. Whenever a country has tried to even suggest legalizing, the US comes in and throws its weight around and prevents it. So if the US decided to legalize, just WHO would be doing the "bullying"?

BIG difference between tobacco and cannabis- cannabis is as easy to grow as tomatoes! Tobacco takes more specialized care. Curing tobacco is a tricky process, you have to watch the moisture levels and it needs to be properly aged to get that unique leathery texture to the dry leaves! Again, cannabis is just plain easier! If you aren't fussy, you can just "dry and try"!

Cannabis is just too darn simple to grow in your back yard, or "very well-lit" closet. There will be a fair number of folks who will buy commercial pre-rolled joints and blunts just for the convenience, but "home-grown" will be very common! :smoke:

The way I see it public approval of legalization should just keep going up and up. I mean as more people get educated they in turn educate others. Also we've got free information via the internet now and there's no stopping the truth. :yay:

But the second half of your statement is a little off, hon, The part about waiting for the "baby-boomers" to die off- you don't want us oldies to die off, you want to EDUCATE us (if needed)! You youngsters tend not to vote, but we oldies sure do! You NEED us as allies to get cannabis legalized! And apparently, a lot of us don't need too much educating!

75% IN AARP POLL BACK MEDICAL MARIJUANA USE
US: 75% in AARP Poll Back Medical Marijuana Use

The AARP, With 35 Million Members, Says It Has No Political Position on Medical Marijuana.

Nearly three-fourths of older Americans support legalizing marijuana for medical use, according to a poll done for the nation's largest advocacy group for seniors.

And that was back in 2004! Support for medical use has risen since then to the highest levels ever!

So don't wait, EDUCATE! But remember, your grandfather sees you like this :smoking:! You are just his "get-high grandkid who thinks s/he knows everything"! He will not believe YOU!

But just looking him in the eyes and handing him several WebMD articles and real PubMed medical studies saying "Sir, you have been lied to, and here is the proof", may do the trick. Reading "Marijuana May Slow Alzheimer's", or "{Delta}-9 Tetrahydrocannabinol inhibits growth and metastasis of lung cancer" can open eyes! (click that first link in my sig for more!)

Cannabis is the ideal senior's medicine, it soothes the digestive system, fights cancer, eases arthritis, migraines and fibro pain. A few puffs of cannabis can replace slow-acting pain pills and sleep aids! There is no chance of a fatal overdose, and quitting cannabis after heavy use is about as traumatic as quitting caffeine.

The side effects of cannabis? "feeling a bit too good", hunger and thirst, red eyes and occasionally drowsiness or the giggles, are mild compared to those of most pharmaceuticals! Just listen to the "fast talk" at the end of any drug commercial!

And unlike pharmaceutical drugs, cannabis can be grown among the roses for pennies! Anyone ever seen a Lunesta or Aricept bush growing anywhere?

If you are on a fixed income, cutting down that drug store bill can be a big thing! Too many of our seniors are forced to choose between paying the rent, or the electric bill or buying needed medications. Cannabis won't replace them all, but it can sure help! :D

Realistically what will our government do if we end up with something like 60+% of the population in favor of legalizing?

We just have to convince just 10% more folks to find out! :hello:

Record-High 50% of Americans Favor Legalizing Marijuana Use
Record-High 50% of Americans Favor Legalizing Marijuana Use

October 17, 2011
PRINCETON, NJ -- A record-high 50% of Americans now say the use of marijuana should be made legal, up from 46% last year.

We gained 4% in one year. These things do tend to pick up speed as they go along.

Let's try for 10% this year! :yay:You up for it?

Granny
