When I come down I get stuffed up along with a headache

Discussion in 'Seasoned Marijuana Users' started by Beefullo, Aug 9, 2007.

  1. Hey guys, the title pretty much says it all. I was a pothead and then I cut it back to once a week or so when school started. Now that summer is here I've started smoking daily again. But now the weed is messing with me, it's congesting my whole head like I have a sinus infection and I then get a sinus headache.

    What's the deal?

Has anyone else experienced negative side effects once you come down?

And why is this just now happening to me?

  2. yea i havnt but my friend gets that, ur probably slightly allergic to the weed and some benedryl or claritan usually clears it all up

or ur smoking marijuana seeds which give u a major migraine

  3. Make sure, its not caused by smoking seeds, thats unsmokeable only to re-grow buds only if there female and healthy enough...or the burnout phase must really suck for you, it just makes me sleepy for the most part, but you can get headaches too, just rest a bit take some tyenol and sleep it out or your smoking to much commercial bud i admit if you smoke too much of that shit it will give ya headaches.

  4. I don't buy shwag so I don't ever have seeds in my weed. This is pretty frustrating because this has never happened before until this summer. Have you ever heard of people being allergic to weed?

btw, if I just smoke a little bit I'm fine, but if I take on a few bowls that's when I feel like crap

  5. Maybe youre just sick?

  6. Its warm out and the humidity has been high sense June, Maybe smoke at night when its cooler out. If you smoked before then this did'nt happen ur alright. Get a check up would'nt hurt. Just don't say its cause by weed unless you feel free to. Sinus suck man but can happen anytime.

  7. Well I hope that's all it is. Whatever it is, the weed makes it stronger.

  8. I just experienced the same thing tonight, I had to pop a couple of Ibuprofen about three hours after smoking. Granted I smoked a good amount of weed this evening.:smoking:

  9. Sounds like classic sinuses to me, it's that time of the year. Get some Claritan D12

  10. that used to happen to me when we used to toke marathon sessions of press. dont smoke that anymore only quality bud now but since i switched no headaches

  11. ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory lol, it has nothing to do with allergies or your sinuses.

  12. Just as an update the problem still hasn't gone away. I temporarily solve the problem each time by taking a decongestant before I intend to smoke. I know it's at least correlated with smoking because I didn't smoke for two days and was fine, the next time I smoked I got congested again.

I've talked to other people about this and have actually had people report the same problem. I am only bumping this thread to see if anyone else out there is experiencing or has experienced such issues. We neet to put our heads together and figure this out or something, it's miserable. After I am done with what little I have left I'm going to lay off for about two weeks or so to see if that helps at all.

  13. I know how you feel.

I was a daily smoker with the tri-monthly four day break and It was affecting my short term memory really badly. So I take a week off and when I try again my tolerance is SUPER low. What used to take me a bowl to achieve now only takes a hit or two. Problem is if I smoke any more than one or two hits, BAM automatic bad high. Paranoia, racing heart, rapidly fluctuating blood pressure, headaches, phantom sensations and weird pains throughout my body...I take this as low tolerance and try to ride it out. I take another week off and have the same experience. I want to be able to smoke on the weekends, but this is weirding me out. I'm almost afraid to smoke and this was my favorite thing to do.

  14. I get the feeling of stuffiness as well, and I believe it is caused by less passage of air through the nose because the relaxing effects of weed cause slower, less forceful breathing.

  15. The congestion may be caused by the smoke irritating your mucous membrane, which is actually more common than you would think but it's harmless. As for the headaches, several things could cause that. You may just be smoking shitty grass, or there are a lot of stems in it. There could also be something on the weed, whether it was put there intentionally or came in contact with it due to unsanitary storing conditions.

I've never gotten stuffed up from smoking, but I find that if I take a break (usually at least one week), I'll get one hell of a bad headache after my high wears off when I start smoking again. I don't know what causes this, but it happens every time, and smoking more doesn't make it go away like it normally would, but at least it doesn't make it worse.

  16. And what do you think happens to your sinuses when they're irritated or clogged?

Either way, it's a pain reliever.
