I was wondering how soon in a seedlings life it begins producing THC. I have a few males each grow which I chop down and use as compost as soon as I identify them. This grow I'll be using the males for hash if possible, since I am now able to seperate the plants. How long do the males need to continue growing after they've been sexed for a decent amount of hash, even 1g per plant would make me happy. I've tried making hash, with the males, before at the point I usually cut them down but it either didn't yeild anything or I did it wrong.
very good question im sure thc is produced throughout the plants life but i definitely know thc in females isnt at its full potential until time for it to be harvested (although this is true for females things coule be different for males)
I always make my boys into hash, not great hash but it will get you blazed. I hate the idea of tossing all that work so it is well worth doing if you have enough plant material. Check this out- http://www.uk420.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=23748 [Edit] I chop as soon as I see clusters and get an okay yeild, sorry never weighed my man-hash. I dont filter them very finely due to the already low thc content, usually end up with light green/blond streaked ball using this method.
Actually thats the method I used, though I followed unoits guide because it has nice pictures. I suppose I must have done something wrong because I tried it aroud the same time as you did, sounds like. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I tried to follow the guide as well as possible the only thing I really did differently was that I used a spatula to mix instead of a hand mixer.
You really need the agitation, try putting the ice/plant material/water in a bottle with a cap and shake for a minute or two. Takes more batches but makes sure you get the job done. Also make sure to strain the bottom portion through coffee filters to ensure you don't suck up any of the goodies in your settling bowl.
