Petro-chemical, alcohol, tobacco, pharmaceutical, and private prison companies make billions off its illegality. Many millions are spent lobbying congress to keep it this way. Combined with a population that is more interested in what (insert random celebrity) is wearing than what self-destructive social policies are being fueled by their tax money, we are fucked but yeah bestiality is nice I guess
ohhhh weeeeed. never. (can you start another poll so i can change my vote?((and next time be more specific??)))
Does this mean legal on a federal level or legal in one state like if Cali passed prop 19? It's entirely plausible that some states might legalize it within 10 years. Federally it might take considerably longer. IMO when the country is in total economic collapse in 15-25 years they'll be forced to quit wasting so much money on the failed drug war and that will bring about the end of prohibition.
It will probably be legal on the books in 2 years in at least one state. It won't truely be legal for another 10 yrs once the communities start embracing the tax revenue from it.
Already a thread for this i believe, but how can you guys not assume it will be legal in the next 2-3 years in at least a state or a few? Hell, it could be in 2011 for all we know with washington. And then in 2012 prop 19 gets another shot, and it will more than likely pass this time around. Whoever says never is a rih-tard...
State wise, it will probably be legal within the next 5 years or less. Federally, it will be legalized in 20+ years. I don't see how the stubborn government and its stubborn citizens will change their minds about marijuana any time soon, without a new reason to stop worrying about weed altogether.
Try working for any company that conducts random drug tests, law enforcement, or any job that requires federal security clearance (what you smoked a joint 2 years ago? Clearance Denied). It would matter a bit more to you.
Like many, on a federal level, its probably going to happen in more than 10 years. Full legalization needs to happen in steps, or just in general, it usually does. Once States start to decriminalize it, and see the profits they can make, and I am talking about most states, then hopefully the senators and congressmen will take it to DC and pass a law. I see it like this Most states: -Legalize for medical use -less harsh penalties for small amounts for recreational use -Decriminalize it and regulate it (optional) -Legalize it state wise? -State makes a lot money -Senators and Congressmen see the profits -Take it to DC -Introduce bill -??? -Legalization?
