Would installing my carbon filter from the start be a waste? It seems like a hassle to go back and install it when the plant begins to flower.
It would be useless then because you want to control the smell! I put mine up myself but some of them cf can be heavy. Be careful! if someone can help you put it up I would recommend it. Cause you have to add the hose clamps if you're using them. Doing it with One hand could be difficult unless you have a lot of room to work with Good Luck Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I always put mine up in the beginning. Even in veg you will get a pretty loud order and you want to keep air moving in and out. Although, I only exhaust when the lights are off as to not suck out all the CO2 when the lights are on, when the plant need them most. I usaully do intervals of 15 minutes when light are off. In flower, Ikeep it on all the time to control smell.
Just use the filter start to finish, it will muffle the sound from the exhaust as long as killing any odor (there can definitely still be odor from veg) while doesn't have any major impact on air flow. There's only plus sides theres no negatives to putting it in early unless your exhaust is really poor. Any proper exhaust setup will not be affected by it though.
