Well looks like we have an abundance of teens and people in their early 20's posting now.. Nothing is more age revealing.. Breaking news kids, rap is monotonous, annoying shit. After they grow up and mature a bit they will probably look back on their days of listening to rap and wonder how they could stand it. I doubt many people over 30 listen to it. *sigh*.. Todays youth.. When did you people become so brainwashed that you think rap is good music? Mainstreamers...
well you see the problem with your statement is most hip hop isn't monotonous. only the things that are played on mtv, bet, and the radio. most good hip hop isn't what the mainstream plays. there is hip hop out there that is almost free verse. inspired obviously by avant garde jazz. with lyrics that are so beautiful and intricate you can barely wrap your mind around it. you seem like an older man who refers to rap as "That rap crap". and breaking news to you, hip hop has been around for 25 years. you think there aren't 50 year old men who get down to nwa and dr. dre? you thinking that for someone to appreciate music that's different than yours they must be brainwashed. cool. i'll just go back to listening to my minimalist hip hop, smoke a joint and laugh at your closed mind. and sorry to the op for posting this, his statement just irked me. i have a song for this thread, [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXUxYQPTp88"]YouTube - Blonde Redhead - Odiata per le sue virtu[/ame]
Okay, first of all let's not make broad sweeping generalizations about the entire genre of Rap. Everything on the radio these days is shit, but there IS good conscious stuff out there. How would you like it if I said that all of classic rock sucks? You would undoubtedly respond by saying that even though some of it can be campy and repetitve, there are amazing bands out there that released landmark albums. The same can be said about rap. But yes, a lot more T Pain / Lil Wayne / Kid Kudi dickriders on this forum.

Chill where did I say anything about disliking rap? My point is every time I check this subforum theres dozen of hiphop and rap threads which seem to push all other threads down to the bottom. And in my stoned state I deem this thread shall be an eclectic fucked up mix of music so feel free to join in..
I don't really like 90% of rap out their, the only stuff I really still listen to is Wu-Tang, Immortal Technique, and WC. Reggae and classic rock all the way, nothing better to burn too.
I love rap buts its not the only thing I listen too [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUGLbcIFyGs&feature=related]YouTube - Toots & the Maytals - 54 - 46 That's My Number[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjtXfkHCEkY&feature=related]YouTube - Jimmy Cliff - The harder they come, studio version[/ame]
Mainstream music was better back then, people played instruments and wrote their songs, instead of sampling good musicians shit and getting people to write retarded raps about their "swagger" ^^^ Toots is fucking dope, I saw them live in July.
