That's right. What's your favorite operating system? Tell us why. Do you like Windows because you're a gamer or just because you love BSODs? Do you prefer Mac OS X because you love something that just works right out of the box or because it just looks nice? Or are you a fan of Linux, such as Ubuntu, Gentoo, or SUSE, because you like to custom-build your OS or because you are a geek?

    Spill the beanz.

    :)

I personally like Mac OS X most, and I'm auditing Snow Leopard as we type. Overall, the OS is simple, works with any peripherals, and yes, it looks great. There is a good community for finding answers to questions you have about problems while using it, but the best part overall is NO FCKIN VIRUSES.

  2. windows NT is ftw.

    I like Windows xp.
I like it because it runs nicely, looks nice, is super simple to use, and I have a start bar that knows when to go away and its pretty customizable (we had an awesome fractal design on the start bar and browser, but it made some things hard to read).

I almost never have problems from viruses (when I do its usually a bad choice in porn or a download for WoW which was a long time ago.). Usually its just a click of a button to rid my computer of viruses.
I've only seen a BSOD with windows 95 and that was when I was like... 8? And that wasn't even a BSOD it was more like a BSOWTF cause I just had to click a button and the computer went back to normal. So I think its safe to say that I have never encountered a BSOD, I take care of my computer.

Having games to play is nice too..
I also like my right/center/scroll/left click, saves me time and effort compared to mac os.

(I always seem to break macs too, no matter what I do they just break/fail/freeze under my touch. Even the new ones.)

  4. Same reasoning here, I love my macs.

  5. I prefer Mac OSX mainly because of security reasons, i don't really use the comp for much more then the internet and photo/video editing so it's perfect for me. It also looks sleek and it's simple to use.

  6. I would have to say Mac OSX for me. Ive used windows all my life till i bought a macbook and i fell in love ith it. No viruses like it was said before, works great, simple to use, fast, dependable and slick lookin:cool:

  7. In this order: (for me)

    Ubuntu>OS X>Windows 7

  8. XP - fast, easy, customizable and if you have a brain - bugfree.

  9. I prefer Gentoo Linux. It's customizable down to the last detail.

Though I usually end up running vista for the games :(. LOL.

  10. XP, since imo it's the most stable OS on the market. I love Linux, but my PC will always run Windows.

Mac OS X. It does the job, looks good, and it doesn't crash anywhere near as often as Windows, and since now Macs are basically commodity x86 hardware they're very easy to upgrade.

I used to be a big Linux fan, but then I got a Mac and while I still keep a spare Linux partition on my Mac I do most of my work in OS X.

Windows? No thanks. Working with Windows feels like trying to live with an abusive spouse or something. It's abusive, possessive (ever try to work with anything from another OS in Windows? Bloody nightmare. Only supports CIFS network shares AFAIK, no support for filesystems other than FAT16/32 and NTFS, by default its bootloader refuses to recognize other operating systems that have already been installed, the list goes on), ugh, I hate it.

  12. OS X. Stable, quick, attractive. That's all there is to it.

    Can't wait for Snow Leopard.

I liked Ubuntu ... I just didn't enjoy putting in the time to work out the hardware compatibility issues ... and no support for a lot of my audio devices.

  13. I'm a graphic designer so I love all my macs! But I also like windows for gaming. Both have their pros so I take advantage of using both.

  14. Same reasons. And I'm going to get Spore on my mac any who the only computer game i want anymore

  15. My favorite OS would have to be Windows XP Media Center 2005, service pack 3. The reason for this is because windows xp is now finally a solid optimal OS. It doesnt crash and it does what I want it to do without lagging or giving me issues. With SP3 coming out it was like putting the cherry on top, because SP3 basically made XP run with optimum settings and much more stable.

I have tried windows vista and while SP2 has made vista run a hell of alot more stable I still just cant get into that OS, windows 7 interface just looks plain retarded to me...lol. Vista is still a reasorce hog and does not respond as fast as windows xp and if you use norton, your going to be lagging quite a bit.

  16. Ubuntu/UNIX, ive yet to own a mac, but ubuntu definetaly tops windows IMO with all the freeware/customability, and it plain looks pretty.

  17. Like Mac OS X, few viruses for Linux. :D :hello:

  18. I used to favor Ubuntu until Windows 7 came along. Thanks to Win7, I don't even use linux anymore. It just simply has almost everything I come to expect from an OS: great gaming performance, good-looking, easy-to-use interface that's more than just eye candy, compatibility with almost everything, etc.

  19. Windows Vista
    Why? Because it works.

  20. linux
yeah know too much about computers but i pretty much programed my whole computer out of bordom, stared off with red hat and now my computer looks like vista and mac, i got the ideas and just went off from there
