Its becoming the new justin bieber, its like its the cool thing to hate nowadays. I just recently started getting into these past couple months, and i really enjoy it, mostly cuz theres so many varieties to it. Its one of those genres that cant really be defined, cuz theyres so many different styles of it. I know theres already a thread about dubstep, but this is different. Basicly, i want to hear your opinions of it, wether you like it, or hate it, and why.
i only like specific dubstep. i HATE some of the new shit coming out. songs need structure not just loud bass and reverb. like bassnectar skrillex rusko all create ART in my ears. but some new shit i hear is just like whooooooooooooooooooo wom wom womb womp womp crash splash womp. but with all music comes opinions that differ. i think if your not open to new stuff your gonna be pretty boring your whole life lol.
I think it sounds like a bad acid trip, condensed down to about 5-10 minutes. Just some constant droning beat. Was at a concert a couple weeks ago and some DJ's were standing around talking about these different songs over a period of about 45 minutes. I thought it was the same song on repeat. Everyones is going to have different tastes but the simple fact a single band gets so much hate shows how annoying it is to some people. Dubstep is like country. You either love it, or you want to smack your co-worker for playing it before noon.

I don't mind it unless people get hipster about it ("I like dubstep before anyone knew it wasn't just techno!"). I have heard some really good dubstep and really bad dubstep, but at seems most of the good stuff is a cover of a normal song. Like hip hop, some people love it some people hate it. I honestly dont think ive found any bad dubstep yet, ive heard some stuff thats borderline, but thats about it. Though i usually go with what i find to have good general reviews.
I like the popular wub wub wub dubstep but I really enjoy the more mellow stuff like Kode9 I wish more people would listen to that kind of dubstep.
Ive been hating on dubstep since day 1 haha I'll enjoy a song here and there... I have enough friends that like it that i get to hear a fair amount. I just feel a general phoniness about the whole genre. Dont get me wrong there are clearly people who genuinely love the music, im not trying to bash what they like... its just like any fad, there are bound to be people who like it just because others do. Being in university, it seems like a lot of people just like getting fucked up (mdma is the big thing nowadays), and they translate that into liking dubstep. Because then they have an excuse to get fucked up to music with loud bass hahah. Ive just seen a lot of little bitches claim they love dubstep, listening to it out of there laptop speakers. It was the cool thing to like. Now its the cool thing to hate. This is how the "bandwagon" thoery works.
Please say some of you have heard of BURIAL!? Some say hes dub, some say hes dubstep, but anyone who listens to him agrees he is amazing. Its good to dance to when I'm fucked. Sometimes the beats just run right through me and I love it! But in all honesty, I find it a bit boring when I'm just chilling listening to music. Just my opinion.
Eh, it's not aggressive enough for me sober. I like some of it high but I know dick all about it and won't pretend to be a fan. Fuck Skrillex and Datsik.

It just bothers me when the only names you see mentioned are Skrillex, DatsiK, Flux Pavilion, Doctor P, etc. etc. There are so many underground artists who make Dubstep that I would rather listen to over Skrillex any day of the week, but they never get recognition.
