wouldnt the ground be better if u dug a hole and put good soil in? wouldnt the plant be able to grow to its full potential? whats the benefits of a pot?
mobility is far from the only benefit, ever try to dig a hole in bedrock? its tough. you can put a pot on top of any kind of earth. if you dig a hole in sand and fill it with nice soil, its going to have the drainage properties of sand. you have a lot more control over water and ferts if your growing in a pot. pots can also put your plants a foot or more higher than surrounding vegetation, aiding in the prevention of plants stretching to compete with the native population.
alot of pros and cons to growing inground.. I personally grow inground.. I also grow a few in pots.. there aren't many disadvantages about growing in a pot, except the plant won't get as big..
