my plants are about 2 months old and all their bottom leaves are yeloowing and falling off rapidly. most people say its just normal but now my plants only have like 50 % of their leaves. i also noticed that most of the stems except the main stem are purplish.. isnt that a sign of a nitrogen problem or something?? well here is some pictures... This is Smiley.(yes i did name my plants its because i keep a log) this is some leaves that fell off of her today this is my other plant sunshine. this is the only plant that has no problems so far and this is my last one dahlilah. what are those little white spots. shes the only one who has them. i looked for bugs on her but there were none anywhere well is you have any ideas on what could be going on let me know.
sounds like all around nute deficiency purple stems indicate phosphorous (if you notice some stunted growth that would pin it down for sure) and the necrotic patches look like potassium def. you dont have any claw effect that i can see so im not sure you have nitrogen problems. usually a nice balanced fert(like 10-10-10or any with all three matching numbers) will fix the problem. but before you do anything what kind of nutrients are you using? brand and nutrient levels (ie: 10-10-10) also a PH test never hurts. and of course my usual disclaimer: i do not consider myself an expert in any wya shape or form i give my advice purely through various troubleshooting sites. any info from our more experienced growers is twice as valuable as anything i have to say. hope they get well soon! EDIT: as for the spotting on the last pic i dont know yet but ill do my usual research and get back to you with what i can cute nails btw UPDATE: for the spotting it could be the start of light burn, but if your lights arent close to there its possibly the start of magnesium deficiency but i am by no means sure on that one. do a runoff PH test just to rule out pH problems because youd be amazed how often thats the problem whether it looks like ph problems or not. you should be between 6.5 and 6.8 (Ganja Guerilla has a great video explaining how if you dont know right here http://forum.grasscity.com/sick-plants-problems/169628-ph-flushing-streaming-video.html )
thats what i was thinking too. i did some research and i wanted to see what other people thought. Yeah the plants grow so slowly but that could be because i only have 3 cfl lights for four plants. i had more but they broke.Im going to get some more when i get some money lol. thanks for the nail comments =] lol im not using any fert. i havnt found anything around where i am.just a few days ago i finally saw the hydro store so i think im going to go check it out soon. any good suggestions???
What soil are you useing? Also plants, from seed, usually have enough onboard nutes to live 2-3 weeks. I think I see N burns on tips of one lady, so your soil had ferts? I'll try to help all I can and I'm sure w/combined knowledge the city can help.
i was using a soil just made of peat moss, sand, perlite, and soil. i think. well simply it was just like plain soil with no nutrients or anything. I did add some new soil to the top that looked like it had thos little fert ball things. could that be the problem?
Affraid so. I hate to say flushing might make worse because those pellets will release more nutes. You need to get a good all around nute. no you don't need to break the bank. 10- 50 -10 . you can use this from start to finish to save funds. water soluble. for now? you have a few options. gl . , alex
