  1. This is a piece of rock dug up from the bottem of the grand canyon. It's nearly 2 billion years old. It formed long before any life existed on earth when thousands of feet of volcanic ash and sand and mud was compressed into stone.

I've seen things much older (the moon, stars, ect.) but this is the oldest thing I've put my hands on.

I'm wondering if anyone has seen anything older and what was it?

  2. in befoe yo mama

  3. Every bit of matter in the universe has been here since the Big Bang.

    So, everything.

  4. Can't say I've touch anything older than that myself.

But just FYI, life evolved well before 2 billion years ago. ;)

  5. I touched a piece of fossilized dino poo in some rock, cant say how exactly old it was though haha

  6. I've touched a meteorite that formed billions of years ago and recently (5-10 years ago) crashed somewhere in Kenya if I'm not mistaken.

  7. Boom (that was my big bang impression).

Doesn't this idea just blow your mind. Your mind that is made up of random molecules that were at one time involved in this cosmic event.

  8. Yes way cool and that every element on earth was created in the furnace of stars

  9. I've been to Babylon. touched the statue of the lion and got to look at the maze in the middle of it.

In the maze they had bricks that were basically "made by" stickers (acted the same, not actual stickers) but Saddam had them all removed and replaced with his name on the bricks.

  10. I've got some fossils from small oceanic creatures that I had the privilege of digging up myself on a dig when I was much younger.

    Also a 1894 indian head penny :)

  11. moon rock. or your mom.

  12. I shook Larry King's hand one time, fuckin turned to dust.

  13. Were you in the military or did you just take a trip to Iraq?

  14. I'd say the oldest continually-existing object I've touched is a meteorite which I believe was dated to 9 bil years ago. Oldest Earth based object would have to be a fossil of a trilobite I had when I was a kid; or possibly one of the rocks I've touched here in the appalachain mountain chain (oldest mountains on earth).

  15. The oldest thing I've ever touched was.... myself.

We are all made of particles that have been constantly reused and reused. Our bodies are made up of particles that potentially could have been in dinosaurs.. or megladons..

  16. ice from Antarctica
    Sequoia trees
    lots of rocks and sediments

  17. lol military
