Whats the difference between hemp and weed?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by aj., Nov 14, 2009.

  1. anyone?

  2. Hemp is a material used for clothing, ropes, ect. and it comes from the stalks of the plants.

Weed is the actual bud from the plant and can be used to smoke, or made into edibles.

  3. Hemp and Cannabis are the same thing, however industrial hemp contains extremely low levels of THC, meaning that you're going to be coughing up a lung before you get enough THC to even notice a mild buzz.

Hemp is used to make rope, building materials, clothing, food, paper, and many other things.

  4. hemp is <1% THC.

It is a different subspecies of cannabis.

  5. correct me if im wrong, but dont you get hemp if you let the cannabis plant go through its natural life cycle?

  6. (correct me if im wrong, but dont you get hemp if you let the cannabis plant go through its natural life cycle?)

very good question id like to know the answer to that too

  7. Hemp is mainly grown from Cannabis Sativa because the fibers are better than that of Indica or Ruderalis. It will have less than 1% THC and depending on where its grown laws can restrict it to lower, ie .3%THC.

Plants do NOT "turn" into hemp at the end of their life cycle, but fibers and hurds CAN be used from mature plants. (Most hemp is acquired from mature plants, no point in harvesting early...)

You need to remove the fibers and hurds from the stalk of the plant, which isn't easily accomplishe without the use a machines.

Now-a-days hemp is being turned into plastics and even cement.

  8. Where do the buds go?

  9. Industrial Hemp is a species of cannabis that contains very low amounts of THC. So even though there may be buds, there is no point of harvesting. The species grown have large stalks

  10. Cannabis Sativa is the same strain you smoke... whats this 4th type of Cannabis you speak of?

  11. SO HEMP IS JUST SATIVA. OR THERE DIFF THINGS. like is weed indica and hemp is gnna be sativa.
