other than black metal, because i guess thats the darkest breed of music imaginable, i'd say the sludgy crust magic of dystopia, the darkest most bleak view of society ever.
I have to go with this. Even though Exodus aren't really considered "dark", their shows are definitely the most brutal. Their pits are insane. Think circle pits that take up entire venues and wall of death charges. It's always gets really fucking crazy when they play Toxic Waltz because everybody jumps into the pit and starts going wild.
deathklok isnt even brutal. if you are looking for the heaviest shit then check out slamming brutal death metal! i gaurantee you wont be dissapointed. i recommend: first check out Ingested. deffinatly fucking brutal. Abominable Putridity, Cephalotripsy, Cerebral Incubation, Consume The Fetus,** Devourment, Digested Flesh, Gutted Out,** Inhuman Dissiliency, Short Bus Pile Up, Vulvectomy, all of these bands are brutal as fuck. Cephalotripsy may sound wierd if you arent familiar with slamming brutal death. ive had a lot of wierd reactions off them, i love em though. start out with the stared ones. if you like these bands you should pm me so we could talk about some more. im the only person to mention something about slamming brutal death on here, itd be cool to talk to someone about it. hope you enjoy! stay hiiiiigh
Morbid Angel, or Danzig. I know metal people are very word picky at times. I'm not sure if these are "dark" or "brutal". Hope this doesn't offend if they're actually some other subset of a subset of some other kind of metal altogether.

heaviest band that I've seen (as far as I remember, been to a lot of shows) was Possessed.. in terms of death metal anyways.. seen some heavy grind and crust bands too. Wolves in the Throne Room was pretty sick live too
As far as bands I've seen, it's a tie between Behemoth and Septic Flesh. Both are phenomenal bands and sick as fuck live.
