What's the best way to ventilate my grow?

  1. The only problem I have with my setup is that I have to do it in a closet and there is no air flow. What could I do to get some ventilation in there? Would a couple of computer fans at the bottom of the door work? Just looking for some ideas, thanks!

  2. I was contemplating doing a closet grow but went with a cabinet instead. The reason same as your's. But if you're willing to cut a hole in the ceiling of you're closet to the attic you can run an exhaust fan to there and cut a whole in the floor for intake from under house. That's what I was gonna do but figured it would be easier to use a cab. Unless you're in an apartment or in multi story house. If in a multi story as long as you're on top level with attic through closet ceiling I Imagine you could still cut hole through floor for intake, and if not maybe shave the bottom of the closet door so air can enter there. Just keep floor clean to avoid random nonsense coming into your environment. Also put a filter of some sort on the intake if you cut hole in floor so , once again, you don't have foreign matter coming in. And finally you should flanges on both intake and exhaust so that unless the fan is in use air won't be coming from your hot attic or from your cool crawlspace. I'm new at this but the venting thing seems pretty simple to me. YOu can a cheap thermostat to cut on exhaust fan when temp gets to high or you can buy a good one for about $60 made for grow environments. I just got a EL-500 Capillary Tube Line Voltage Thermostat for about $60 from my local hydro store and its very accurate. I also invested in a $90 inline 4" TD-100x Mixvent exhaust fan simply cause its very quite from other fans I've seen in action with similar cfm. And now I'm ranting longer than I anticipated but yeah I think these are your best bets.

  3. I had a closet grow and just had a powerful exhaust fan with a good carbon filter and a couple of fans for circulation. For the intake it was just a hole cut into the sheeting reinforced with duct tape. When I sealed it there was a vacume effect so no smell ever got out. I never had any mould or mildew issues ever,

However, I did have to replace the duct tape every so often. Is there a better way to seal up the plastic sheets in a do it yourself job?
