  1. ok well i germinated my one and only seed and put it in the soil and made sure the soil was moist, put it under my 18w CFL and nothing happened for 3 days straight, i dug up the seed/taproot and it was quite long and it broke out of its shell

but i just read that non sprouted seeds dont need light until they come up from the soil, so i put sarran wrap over the top and put it in a dark place ( my dresser ) was this the right thing to do? also im making sure not to over water and does it need nutes now or should i wait until it shows some green?

any help for this noob is greatly appreciated!!

  2. How far down did you plant? Shouldnt be more than a half an inch or so down.
Its ok to use light or not use light, works both ways. Just make sure it stays humid and the soil stays moist. Shouldnt be too much longer before you see it break soil unless you really buried that sucker. Digging it up wasnt a good idea, be patient, those things are very fragile.

  3. DON'T USE NUTES YET. wait like 2-3 weeks.

  4. its about 3/4" inch down now but it was like 1 1/4" before
thanks for the help, i greatly appreciate it
i think my other plant i tried to grow died because i watered the soil with a root stimulator/plant starter solution
also, is a 16w CFL enough light for just one until veg (2 weeks or so...?)
im limited to only CFL's and probly will buy a bigger wattage, what would u guys recommend?

  5. any help??

  6. Always help! Well I say first off the first time you just did'nt give it enouph time to break the surface since you planted it so deep try planting it about a half in down next time but it sounds like it was on its way! Now that you dug it up? I dunno if it will make it still(maybe)? Stick to the basics light water and air for the first couple a weeks! No nutes yet! Its a weed maaan! Keep it simple and keep trying bro, Da MIlKman:D P.s. I would say for 1 plant 250 watt h.p.s. for flowering and yes you'll make it w that single flouro but more would be better!

  7. for sure dude i appreciate the help
im going light shopping this weekend so ill definitely get a higher w bulb
as for the seed i dug up like an idiot, i doubt its going to make it, no signs of green but ill give it a couple more days

  8. Search around the forums, there's been some great threads about this recently. Here's one.

Basically, all seeds need is a warm, moist environment. And some time. If you snapped the tap-root when you dug it up, it's probably screwed. Patience isn't a virtue for nothing! Even 1.5" down, it probably would have made it to the top okay, if you'd left it alone.

You begin "feeding" (ugly term, because it implies non-organic practices) when the baby leaves (cotyledon) shrivel. There may be two or three sets of "true" leaves before that happens. It may be one week, or four weeks. Watch the baby leaves, not the calendar; let the plant guide you, always.

And chill! When you stress out around your plants, you stress them out. Remember that.
