  1. This keeps popping up where the leaves turn and eventually get all crispy and die off. These haven't reached that stage yet but all indications say they will.

My water is always between 6.5 and 6.7. The last time I watered (~5-6 days ago) it was just water. The time before that (~7 days before the last watering), I only put 1/4 or less strength Tiger Bloom. We're talking about a half teaspoon per gallon. Temps are always between 74 and 78 with a light breeze in the room but not directly on the plants, only circulating. Lights (400w HPS and a T5 unit) is at least a foot above the plants and in a cool tube.

I can't figure out why this keep happening. All I'm hoping to get is a cpl oz's off this plant since it's just for personal but this crap keeps popping up and I can't figure out why. I was told nute burn before so I've damn near cut nutes out and it still happens... sheesh... This particular plant is Purple Morocaan.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks for looking!!

  2. If you're using soil try flushing your bucket

  3. I am using soil. They're like 4gallon. Is there a specific procedure to "flush my bucket"? Do I just run a crapload of water through it or are there chemicals involved?

  4. So, did some quick reading on the web about flushing. Its time to water them again anyway in a day or so I'll take that opportunity to do a flush. I'll just run about 10 gallons of water through it and see what happens..

    Thanks!

  5. Make sure you check the pH of your runoff and adjust as necessary.

  6. Wow! That didn't turn out the way I expected it at all...  After running 7 of the 10 gallons through of 6.7 water, I tested the water from the runoff bucket and it came back 5.6!  I adjusted the last 3 gallons up to 7.4 before running them through(I could bring myself to go too extreme in case I had done something wrong when testing the runoff) and then tested the runoff from the last 3 gallons I ran through.  It was still just below 6.  So, high pH causes nute lockout.  What does low pH do?

Since she's back in bed sleeping now all freshly watered, eh at should I do?  I don't want to overwater her but if that pH is damaging her then seems like a pickle..

    Thanks for the advice everyone!

Yes, both high pH and low pH can lock nutrients out. I will try to find the chart that shows what pH ranges certain nutrients are locked out at. You could have very acidic soil, or you could have had an excess salt buildup. Sounds like it was acidic soil since you flushed and were still getting a low pH. Try adding some dolomite lime to the next watering to raise the pH, and always make sure the RUNOFF, not what's going in, is about 6.3-6.5.

  8. Do I need to add dolomite or just pH Up? Either is fine with me, I'll just need to get some dolomite if that's the best option.

Flushed a second plant tonight. Runoff came out 6.1. I'll plan on doing the same with it when I water next. Usually about a week between waterings.

    Thanks again!

  9. If your between 5.8and 6.5 your fine on ph, you should flush your medium on the regular, also you should try coco or soilless you know just what its getting and when also look into iron deficiency, hard to see from my phone as I'm traveling but iron tends to disscolor the top of the plant. Hope it works out, nice lady you got
