Its really a matter of personal choice i believe.Both processes work to grow the plant.Hydro is a bit quicker but a good bit less forgiving than soil.I would recommend that anyone who is growing for the first time go with soil til they get used to the mannerisms of the plants.I dont think that one is better than the other just different roads that go the same place.good luck
