What's a good target yield for 1 plant?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by first91, Sep 3, 2012.

  1. Looking to grow for the first time, was wondering what is the avg yield that people get from 1 plant outdoors?....or are most strains really different from each other yield wise?

    more sun = more yield
    6-8 hours = 1/2 pound
    10 hours = 1 pound
    15 hours = 2 pounds

Start in end APril / May. Use 40 gallons per pot/hole. Use an airy soil mix, 1/4 total volum edry nutrients like kelp, horse manure, high p bat guano etc... and according to your sun hours, you'll get the above yields. Also depends on LST, fimming, supercropping.

  3. Yeah way too many variables to give you a straight answer depends on your climate, how much sun you get as Corto said and of course, water supply and nutrient availability plus the strain.

  4. Yeah many factors and strains too as RD said. I wrote 2 pounds but that's guerilla with full day sun and lots of water and nutes. If you use 100 gallon pots and full day spots at home you can get 3-4 pounds per but that's rare. 1 pound plants are achievable outdoors guerilla with 10 hour sunny spots.

  5. Wouldn't say rare 3-5 is standard pull from a hundred gallon if you have a good yielding strain we did 7 pounds from a 100 gallon last year with the sour crush strain. One of the big reasons I am so glad I have another sour crush this year that is just as big if not bigger than that seven pounder last year. Great stinky fruity bud too :)I should make it clear this is in perfect Nor Cal weather too not sure it is possible everywhere were spoiled here.

  6. Oh yeah Richard, I meant to have a legal set up. Have a good one.

  7. Legal where? You mean medical wise? Not sure what you mean.

  8. Well legal as your grow is as opposed to illegal which is the case for mj in most places in the world. Guerilla wise it's almost impossible to set up a full day spot with 15 hours of sun, huge pots, and daily LSTing, fimming to reach huge yields.

  9. Oh yes for sure I got ya yeah in the ideal legal climate much easier to maximize yield potential and I did say its Nor Cal specific not everyone has that capability very grateful indeed remind myself everyday how lucky I am.

Hell I'm in NorCal growing in my backyard and I still can't achieve all that unless I move to a different property. I would love to see what I could yield with a full days sun. I have more like the equivalent of a gorilla set up, but in my back yard. I can tend to it easily, but I don't get enough light m, I have bugs galore, and not much space to work with.

If I wasn't so sentimentally attached to this house I would have moved a long time ago. But my grandparents lived here. My mom was raised here. I grew up here, and now I'm raising my kids here. That's a little too much to walk away from for some plants. But I'm considering renting a better property to grow on in the future. Maybe next season but probably not for another two seasons will I be able to swing that.

Personally I think anything over a pound per plant is a good goal. When you get to achieve more than that, it's just icing on the cake.

Well this is a 35 gal smart pot with all day sun and I am thinking about 3-4 off of this one. This pic was taken around 730am and u can see its already in the sun. I have some bigger ones in 65 gal. I am going to pick up some 100 gal next year.
I live in the valley in perfect farm land where things are meant to grow big.

I bet you will get more than 3-4 off of that beauty! My smallest one looks like hell compared to that. I've already chopped at least an oz off her and her looks like she has a few more to go. If my smallest can produce more than 3-4 oz than that baby should be at least an lb.

Never mind. You mean 3-4 lbs don't you hahah. That seems more accurate. Especially after zooming in on the pic.

I would quit growing if I got 3-4 oz of that. My smallest one is a blue dream that reveged pretty bad and slowed the growth way down. I hoping for about 4 oz off of it. The rest are monsters. I will try and throw some pics up later.

I saw so many people have reveg problems with their blue dream this year. The person who gave me my BD clones started theirs at the same time, gets way more light than I do, but they put their plants out too early and had reveg problems so their BDs are half the size of mine. My BD's are about 9 ft tall and 7 ft wide.

My smallest plant this year is a clone off my Purple Diesel in a 30 gallon. It that started flowering in July and that seriously cut down on my veg time. Its only about chest high and came out a tiny plant compared to the rest, but I'm not complaining about having some early harvest buds to smoke. At this point my plants are getting crowded anyway and it will be nice to get the sacrificial lamb out of my way. The rest of the plant should be getting harvested in about a week. :D

God I love this time of year. How many plants do you have NorCali?

18 3 35 gal 8 in 45 and the rest on 65 all smart pots. I will try to take some good pics to post today. I have not put a good update in a while.

  16. WAYYY too many variables

    pot size or in ground
    nutrients used
    strain
    time of sun
    soil
    latitude
    plant training (topping and lst)
    time of year you plant

  17. When did you start your BD's?

  18. Honestly I'm stoked if I get 3oz off a plant, but I guess it all depends on size and location and nutrients and all kinds of shit.

  19. the main factor is direct sun hours

    then

    -pot/hole size
    -enough veg time
-enough nutrients (i place solid nutes all in soil)
    -enough water
    -LST/fim/supercrop
    -genetics
    -weather
