I FEEL SORRY FOR ALOT OF THE SO CALLED GROWERS OUT THERE. and for the newbies who are serous about growing. there is to much bullshit out there for you to get a serious answer. here are a few tried and true tips for my real grow brothers. 1.any grow room using 2000 watts 12/12 or lower will not be busted by the electric company. it was someone you told. 2.DONT TELL NO ONE. NOT EVEN GOD, HE ALL READY KNOWS. 3.any room 8x8x8 or smaller(512cuft) you dont need an exspensive fan. 8in duct fan from home depo(30$). the key is your intake hole must be 12in or bigger(1 8in 1 6in holes workes well for 8x8x8). 4.floros are not eff. lights. anybody who is serous about growing needs to save up and get at least a 400whps. trust me buy a hid. i knew a guy who put up 12 40w flours and spent more than a 400w(125$ insidesun). after several grows i convence him to go hid. never went back, and kick his self in the ass for wasting his time with flours. get a hid. 5.i have been a part of alot of grows in my days(dont worry i just quit last year) soil and hydro. in every grow room watering and feeding is different. it takes trail and error. WATERING: hydro: you need to be able to get to your roots until you get it right. check every 30min to see how dry your roots are. never let them dry out. ajust your flood times to keep root wet but not soaked. soil: use a moister meter as a guide. but you should be able to tell for the weight of your pot. if not sure by weight put your plants on a 2-3 day feeding cycle if pots feels heavy when next cycle comes use less or water less. FEEDING: ALL YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET IS GUIDES. NO ONE KNOWS YOU PLANT, SETUP, OR PASSION. TRAIL AND ERROR. there is alot more to be said. due to the bullshit all around and the people who spread it i only give info to real growers. if your real holla back would love to help.
wtf are u on about lol u telling me i don't need rvk's for 600w hps in a drobe lol? U tellin Mr Green he can't grow his chronic under floros anymore? i check my hydro grows weekly - not every 30 mins ffs. my roots are buried in hydroton ur advice is crap - ur not a grower at all - i reckon ur about 11-12 & have mebe read a few threads. ur guilty of spreading the bullshit advice u complain about! come back with some pics of ur buds.
i knew this was going to happen. let me clear some things up because you cant read or grow. cfl are crap. as a grower you want to get the best, the fastest, the cheapest, and the most. if you can show me a cfl that will out preform a hps/mh you the man(same power). the checking the hydro was ment for newbies trying to get there watering cycles down. no i dont grow any more i just came on here to help some people out. weed will grow under almost any light, any watt, ALMOST. I WISH I WAS 12 AGAIN. I HAVE MADE MY MARK AND DONT HAVE TO PROVE ANYTHING TO NO ONE. you are still try to grow 3 plants under cfls, get a grip. you call bullshit, run any ? by me and you will find out you are fucking with a grown man who knows his shit. but that is not what i am here for i am here to help. so if you dont want my advice,FUCK OFF. didnt see first ?. if you are going to invest money into a grow light(hps/mh) you better get one you can cool or you will spend the extra money cooling your space that you tried to save on the light(but you wouldnt know nothing about that. get a life.
ahahah nerd - another know all - here we go. 1st point. m8. i've been growing successfully indoors & outdoors for over 2 decades & i can spot b/s a mile off. 1st u say flouros are crap, now u say cfl's are crap - make ur mind up. perhaps u'd like to take a look at some of the excellent results folk are having all over the planet with flouros & cfl's. Have a look in the diaries here.... i use enviros & mh for vegging, then enviros & 600w aircooled hps in flower u fool - take a peep, or is 1/2lb+ a crop not good enough for u? Take time to see what ppl are doing before u condemn them as noobs. in contrast, i haven't seen a single pic of anything u have grown, or attempted to grow. so rather than telling me to fk off, i suggest u get a crop on & show us what u can do rather than spout off crap that u can't prove or have heard 2nd hand. tbh u belong in beginner's forum.
OMG don't u just love it when ppl come along to offer advice thinkin they are the greatest but dont actually have any plants on the go or any knowledge about anyhting at all?! Most good growers wouldn't actually blow their own trumpet-any growers that think they know it all are really just proving they know jack shit and how in the hell did u work out u can ut any light system in a small space without extraction?! ever heard of heat stress??? Even here in the UK my drobe gets too hot with 2x 200w enviros in so ur jokin if u think u can get away with a hps in a small space!!! CFL's are crap? well I dont need to read anymore advice then, I have seen numerous grows here that are sweet and more than good enough, sure HPS can outdo CFL's but sometimes, such as my grows, CFL's are my only option due to height etc.... and if you look at my grow (in Sig) its not something I would call half bad, and im looking forward to smoking it. This forum is full of great advice, you just have to take the time to look, and to think you can sum up growing MJ in a short post like that, I have to ask, where do you get off.
not gonna resort to name calling but perhaps you could have done a bit more research and kept an open mind fella!,a few years ago i would hav said fluros r crap but technology moves on,i use envirolights not because im a noob,but because of the many benefits they hav in my situation they pretty much do away with all heat problems as you can hav them touching the plants if u really want,they also kick out alot of lumens for the power they use and are self ballasted so all u need is the shade and the plug.i now prefer theese lights as they are simply cheaper,cooler,and easier to use. in future dont knock it untill you tried it,and remember wot is ideal to you is ideal to YOU ONLY and taking your own advice as gospel is just ignorant,however i wish you the best of luck and happy smokin

at least you sound like you like you got so exp. i did not say you could not grow under the lights you are useing but answer this. SHOW ME A GROW WITH ANY OTHER LIGHTS THAN AN HID THAT WILL OUT PERFORM AN HID GROW(no disresp. but if you do have one show me). as far as the name calling i am to old for that but that first asshole got under my skin. but i would like to thank all of you all for your comments. you got my blood going and i will be starting a new grow in 2 weeks and i will have pics(even though when i was doing big grows it was told to me never post pic never talk about it. i have 7 years under my belt and i never used anything but hids(some cfls for clones but that is it). and i live in the USA and it is kind of hard to experement and go to other grows execpt freinds. in the USA we go for the most eff. way to grow due to the war on drugs. so Uk junglist if you can open my eyes to some thing holla back.
didnt read this until after reply. you could get hids(even 1000s) to touch the tops of your plants with a light mover and an air cooled refl. what type of lumens do you lights put out? not trying to judge just wanted to know.

AIR COOLED REFLECTOR. i am soory that alot of you guys dont have the money to do it right. but if you did you would get hids. and you talk about me. do some reading. quote from Jorge Cervantes indoor grow bible "HIDs are bright, very, very bright. Growers who manage the intense brightness of HIDs properly harvest more weed per watt." but hey i guess he dosnt know what he is talking about either. it is about eff. thats, that.
but i bet an hid use right will do alot better. i never said they would not work but for the most eff grow it is hids or nothing. you should know that.
it's better for flowering yes, but not for vegging & clones. u can't beat blue cfl (envirolite) for vegging economically. energy savers & flouros are best for mothers & clones. u have to be carefull u don't become a light snob - dissing everyone who don't have lights as good as u. Some folk have fk all money & can't afford to buy a hid lamp or the power to run it. Some only have small boxes / closets & would be impractical for them to run hps / mh. U can pull a few oz a plant with flouros & envirolites / ecolites & for some ppl that's a blessing. Most ppl here are persy growers & a few oz is a great result - especially from old flouros etc! U will never see cash croppers posting on public forums - different game. (& yes i've been there before u ask lol!) It annoys me (slightly) when ppl say how hard hydro is & how much fkin about u have to do - all my grows are hydro atm apart from a few trays of seedlings & once u have ur method together it's really easy & not as time consuming as soil. The reason i went to hydro was cos i work away a lot & can't be around to tend my plants. Everything is now full auto on timers etc & with a good ph stable feed (i use canna aqua) u won't be chasing ph every day - or every 30mins as some suggest It really is a pointless exercise listing a load of things that u think are right cos every grow is different, every grower's circumstance is different & what might work for u could be disasterous for the next man! anyway, never mind - where's me fkin tin
not tryin to say that cfls out perform hids in all circumstances but they do make it easier,if i had the fans and extraction necessery 4 hid my neighbours would be straight on to me as i live in a counsil house were the walls are like cardboard, i love using cfls as they open up new possibilities 4 me and other growers with small space issues,as for the pictures on the internet im like u,some call it paranoid i call it careful,but ill show u all the finished result as i move locations after every grow(see y ppl say im parnoid?lol in short i agree that if u have the perfect conditions to grow stealth and have the space and money to spend on electric bills then yes hids can be better,however this is rare i jus sayin that cfls open the door to those who would normally find it impossible and surely that can only be a good thing. 2muchtime all i can say is i respect your exp. and knowledge,but next time u grow with hid squeeze in a couple of envirolights to side light your plants and let me know wot u think,i predict some obece cake eating buds! gret thread evry1 nothing like a mature bt passionate debate eh?
So I need an air cooled reflector in there as well? I dont think that would suffice as my plants can grow into my CFL's with no burns, where as even with an air cooled reflector, I feel the heat would still be too great compared to CFL's. Also I would need two extractor fans running, one for carbon scrubber and one for the light cooling which just isnt practicle. I think you should give CFL's more credit, they work for many peoples personal grows, so whats the problem with them? P.s as for fluffy buds, my current buds are a solid mass of whole goodness!
thanks would love to see those pics. i am talking about eff. i dont have the time to spend in jail because i wanted to grow a couple of plants for per. alot of growers have been caught because of telling people. i dont know who is working for the police. so i do it big once a year. giving the police and snithes only 3-4 months to catch me. i run 2 1000hps 2 1000hps/mh 2 400mh. i like to go with 100 seeds hoping to get atleast 50-40 girls the more the better. grams per watt is how i mesure eff. off my little setup i will get from 6-8lbs. i swear by advance nute. and i use a CGE. from my exp and 400mh will see 50 of my babies through the first 2 weeks. i use no other lights. this is the setup i ran for years. if i am missing something or you can tell me how to make my setup better please tell. i am not a slow mover i see something i jump on it, when i found out about growing i was shocked there are so many myths floting around the hood. someone even told me hydro weed grows under water(the whole plant) and has no seeds. so i did all the reshearch i could on the subject and i thought hids were the way to go. there has been new tec. but i still have not seen anything out perform a hid. i am far from new and i dont want any advice from someone get 224gr off a 600 plus other lights. that would not work for me. i grow big once a year and sit back and enjoy the rewards until i get low. good luck holla back
i cant say if your setup would over heat or not but i run 4 1000 in a 10x10x8 area useing a closed growroom enviorment. 5000btu a/c and my 8in air cooled cyl. i am able to my lights 6-12in from plant without burns and my temp stays at 85-90F iuse co2 so the temps are cool. and i use a light rail5. so this is my setup. the only time in my grow(i have to keep saying that or they might yell at me. ha ha) i worry about burns is from my nutes. not the lights and i have a light meter. just telling you how i do it. and you are right i do have two fans but that is because i use a CGE. if you had a air cooled refl. you could hook some duct to on end leeding to your fan and carbon scrubber. pull hot air from your light and clean the air at the same time. just some advice. i did not say they do not work i just said they are not that eff. my firt grow was under cfls just to see if they would grow and i will tell you from my exp. a 400mh will speed up your groth by a week or two. this is just my exp. good luck holla back
this tread was ment for people going big. i dont know about the envirolight could you give me some spec. i use 2 400 mh from seeds to 2-3 weeks. i had been a member for a couple of months and i never ansewered ?s about anything but setup and hid lights. so if it does not apply let it fly. if you are run cfls and cant afford hids or your space is to small for them than move to the post about cfls. but for someone to say my advice is bullshit is full of shit. my advice would be gold for some shit for others. good luck holla back
