What would happen if we voted?

Because there are many more elderly, religious, and ignorant people that think it is bad for you, that it rots your brain, etc. They don't consider a lot of factors like how it only affects that one person, but I won't get into that. And the religious people don't want to feel responsible for making us go to Hell, so that's why they vote against it. Although some places are coming around.

I hope that answered your question, I find it difficult to answer questions like this without ranting.

 

Yes, the MAJORITY. Not enough people care about pot to ever be able to hold a vote. It's gonna take a president one day that realizes the truth about marijuana and its ability to be global "cure-all"

Be honest here, we toke because we like to get high and get mind altered. It does fuck with your brain, but who cares? My girlfriend can tell when I'm using, and she says I'm not as up and fun even the day after. And I forget a lot more than I used to, and all I do is maybe 2x/week and only ganja. I can see why there's laws and one of these days I'll probably give it up.

Try doing it 2-3 times a day and going to college. Ya that really fucks with my head when i get a 3.6 for my gpa. I think weed can be alterized to studying high get high scores. Thats my opinion.

you have no right to sit there and criticize another person for there thoughts and opinions... if some day they want to quit thats there business and what gives you the right to sit there and put down another person? you would think that a weed smoker would be a little more subseptive to anothers thoughts...

anyway some day it will be legalized... as for in my generation i highly doubt it (23) if you look at it and compare it to when alcohol was illegal weed is on the same path... every year making more and more advancements.... so i honestly do beleive that it is only a matter of time. Unfortunatly when it does become legal i see it becoming more of a problem because there will be alot of idiots and immature ppl who will abuse the right to use.

 

I think that the effect on memory varies from person to person. I have yet to meet a pothead who wasn't forgetful. but when it comes to things I enjoy, I tend to remember more. I'm a pothead and I'm in college. and for just about all of the electives I struggle like crazy, but for the classes for my major (biosciences, which I really enjoy) I don't even have to take notes, it just sticks.
Plus I tend to think more 'outside the box' then others do.

as for the public opinion thing. I don't think that its JUST the religious community against marijuana. There are a lot of people out there who legitimately believe that marijuana is harmful due to the gov't sponsored ads on TV and in print. The majority of people out there believe that MJ is a 'gateway drug'. where do you think they got that from? as long as ads like that stupid 'above the influence' ad is still out there unchecked then everybodies gonna think that way. I think NORML should come out with an ad telling the truth.

as for religions. Every time I get into a discussion with somebody who's religious about MJ reform, I just bring up some facts: after jesus was crucified the romans persecuted christians and put anyone caught praying to death because the majority of romans thought christianity was wrong. if you wanna think that smoking MJ is wrong, that's fine. But I think its wrong to have laws that punish people for believing or practicing something just cuz the majority think that its wrong.

there's nothing wrong with religion but there is something wrong with forcing your views on others.

The truth is, is we have to wait till all the old people die in congress and set some new people that are (more liberal) that will alow these laws to be legal.

Also with the immature and other stupid people there will be a set age limit so no "immature people" can buy it legally.

Average age in congress: 53.3 : so if you think about it at the most there can only be about 10-15 years left in those old farts.

And regarding the guy who said weed fucks with our brains- you could call him stupid, but I wouldn't rant at him. Obviously he has had first-hand experience with weed negatively affecting his life, and he's explaining it in this thread. Marijuana affects everyone differently. If it puts him in a boring mood and his girlfriend dislikes it, he can explain that on here. And if he forgets stuff more easily than before, it's most likely the placebo effect, and he shouldn't be called a "pussy" because he believes it gives him poor short term memory even after the high.
