What type of lighting is needed for autoflowering strains?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by thosevacanteyes, Sep 4, 2008.

  1. I have a few BBerry x Cindy seeds and I was told by the grower that they were an autoflowering strain. I have never grown an autoflowering strain before so I am not sure whether to go MH or HPS on lighitng, or a combination of the two(duel spectrum bulb). If it turns out that they are not autoflowering it isn't a big deal, I will just make the necessary adjustments to my chamber and expect a longer grow.

I am pretty familar with everything else, I have grown in deep water successfully twice.

    thanks for your help.

  2. Bright light works best....

    haha...sorry, just had to.

Autoflower strains use light the same way norm strains do - It's just they dont require the darkness to flower....which is kinda cool in that you can run lighting 24/7 and still have a good harvest.

Personally, I always run these with HPS. Good light spectrum and higher output than MH... But it's your call, either will work just fine.

  3. So you are saying MH for vegging still? and I guess that means that at first signs of flowering I need to switch to my HPS?
