Im currently soaking my extra leaves and stems in ISO alcohol. Im wondering what i should use to strain. I know the common method is a silk screen but i dont think i have one. My instinct tells me to go for a coffee filter but im thinking it might ONLY strain the alcohol and it would leave what a need in the filter with the leaves. Any help would be great. I need that goldylocks "just right" filter. I dont mind small peices left behind (in fact it helps it burn better for smoking time) but i dont want to "overstrain" it.
Coffie filter works fine done it a million times with butane extractions. Just pour some clean solvent into the filter when done. That way you will rinse any goodies still in filter out with the clean solvent. Add this to the first filtration and evaporate until ALL traces and odor of solvent is gone.
I use a mason jar with just the ring with out lid. The edge of coffee filter under the ring and screwed on supports the filter and works great. Just trim the filter so it does not hang out side of the ring or you will get some dribble down outside of the jar. Just fit the filter to top of mason jar so the edges overlap the threads of jar trim if necessary and screw on ring to secure filter. filter inside large funnel also works but filters a bit slower. enjoy
