You need to do a lot of reading. Check the stickies, grow guides, and links in my sig. There is no particular color or characteristic of buds that will tell you that they are good. Even thick trichs does not necessarily equate to strong potency. Just grow them out healthy and keep the females from being fertilized so they don't have seeds.
