What to do with this bush?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by WesternMAGrower, Jul 29, 2018.

  1. Hey all. So a buddy of mine gave me a gift today. His garden got overcrowded so he entrusted one of his girls to me. I will be putting her in the ground right there and i plan to dig a hole about the same size as the container (that's about as big as I want her to get).
As you can see, shes got really dense vegitation and she already started to flower. Its been topped early on so that top layer is all future colas. My question is, how would you go about pruning this thing to maximize yield? Theres a lot of "undercarriage" that to me seems like wasted energy as she enters full flower. Should i spread her out and start some LST or is it too late for that? Never inherited a plant like this, so any advice would be fantastic!

  2. clean it all out, lollipop the fuck out of it NOW. If you want you can just clip inner branches and leave the leaves at the node. Trust me, you want all the production and energy to go into colas, not fluffy innner larf.

  3. I would not put it into the ground. Leave it in that pot or pot up. No reason to put it in the ground if you ask me. I like to be able to move plants if needed

  4. Thanks! Should i maybe tie some of the side branches down a bit or just let her go?

  5. Id leave it in that pot being its to close to flower. I just don't think it would be much gain. Cant be much help with the bending and trimming. I just let mine grow.

  6. I decided to build a simple scrog for this bush and i intent to lollipop it over the next couple of weeks. As it grows a little more I'll be able to fill in some more of the screen with tops. I have very littlr experience growing this way. Any input on this setip and my plans would, as always, be greatly appreciated.

  7. Pot up ASAP and don’t clean the plant out like other guy suggested. If that plant isn’t starting to stretch and do her thing already, she will very soon. You don’t want to go chopping and stressing at this point, lollipopping it should be out of the question right now. Not necessary at all for an outdoor plant. I’d just transplant gently and let her do her thing.

  8. Much appreciated!! I've been getting conflicting advice on that. I think I'll start with some defoliation underneath and take it from there. The net should help at least with getting some more light and airflow in there. Thanks so much man!!

  9. Gotcha. Yea, some small branches and shoots shouldn’t hurt. I just know that I’ve had hermie issues on a few plants that I got scissor happy with in preparation for flower a few years ago. It still gives me nightmares and cold sweats. Lol.

  10. I bet! Most of my grows have been indoors so I've got some learnin to do. Unfortunately I only have two full size plants (and 5 that are only 1 month old) so I cant make too many mistakes!

  11. Think i should lower the net or do you think the lower parts will grow enough ro reach the canopy? I will be tying down the tops soon and i think she will stretch for another couple of weeks.

  12. A lot of the lowers probably won’t reach close to the canopy. Is that a revegged plant?

  13. This is all I do with mine. Special queen. She’s strong enough to hold her own. I do a light cleaning of the bottom third week of July. The lowers will produce decently.

  14. I don't defoliate Outdoors; and indoors just what's needed..
Yes, I pull the completely dead stuff (completely yellow) if only to keep things neater and no food for bugs (I spray Captain Jack's Dead Bug Brew weekly..Safe for Veggies)

These 3 ladies do the talking!;) (2 of them in 3 gallon cloth pots no less..LOL)
    N. Nevada..avg temps days..95-103..nights 65-75..RH days..TEN PERCENT MAX!!!! (they seem happy enough I think)

  15. Nice job guys! They look great! I'm definitely keeping the scrog net to spread her out a little. She is a clone that was started indoors and transplanted outdoors around July 1st. Not revegged that i know of. Shes got a ton of pistils now, but shes not in full flower yet. Soon though!!

  16. Damn, I’m impressed with how great those girls look in just three gallons. How in the heck are you pulling that off? Lol. How old are they? My outdoor Queen was from a harvest at the end of may. Was originally a small plant that yielded about an ounce. Should pull 6+ easy this round. About 9 hours direct sun is all I can wiggle.
