What to do about cold nights?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by loads, Sep 8, 2006.

  1. I live in the NE US and the weather forecast for the next week calls for daytime temps in the 70's and night time lows in the middle 40's. I had read somewhere that 40's could cause the plant to go into shock. No frost has been forecast (yet). Any thoughts or advice to protect my plants would be appreceated. Here are a couple of shots of my best plant grown from some pretty good bagseed.

  3. 40 degree nights may slow down ur growth but it will also quicken up ur time of maturity. and give u some color.

and frankly whatchya gonna do about it? u have already caused global warming...what is next?

  5. your plants will be fine. i live in new england too, and i have never had a plant die from the coldness

  6. OK so I survived a week of cold nights, followed by a week of rain and 60 degree temperatures. The last couple of days have been mid 70's and sunny ... all is well? This morning I went out and found what may be mold/mildew on one leaf on a lower level bud. I cut it out and left the bud. I'm about 40 days into flowering so I anticipate another couple of weeks till harvest. The first pic is the whole plant, 2nd the bud in question and the 3rd the infected leaf. Take a look and confirm my diagnosis and advice would be great. Thanks.

  8. from the picture, i cant tell what u are seeing.

but my weather is colder than urs and i still have all my plants outside. its gonna get down into the 30's at night next week.

yes sometimes mold will form on the lower buds. but if one spaces out the plants and allows for decent wind/sun/temp, that is all u can do.
