  1. ok here's the problem. I've been doing this whole grow thing for like ten years but I haven't dealt with this problem for like 4 years and for the life of me I don't remember what I did to solve my problem. so the situation is this. I have these Rubbermaid storage tubs, there the 10 gallon ones, about 8 inch tall. I have great amounts of air in the water(plenty of air stones) and I have a power head to circulate it too. I use the super naturals aquagro, I as so add the 35% hydrogen peroxide H2o2. So it's not dwc but close and they have always worked great. however, I just move so I had to reset up my tubs but this time there's white chalky residue allover inside of the tubs, It seems as if the residue dust is attaching to every thing in the tub, it is spreading and growing like algae, but it's not algae.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> what the heckis the white stuff and how do i get rid of it????:(</o:p>
Any hep on this subject would be great.....

  2. Sounds like, and mind you I'm guessing, powdery mildew?

Please Check w/the hydro growers here. Maybe in general indoor? Or maybe someone else in here has working knowledge of your problem. My memory, I'm 6O so it's spotty sometimes, says clean out syrtem. The peroxide did nothing aye?

  3. What about salt buildup from the water? I don't think powdery mildew would appear in the reservoir, only on the plants themselves, but I am not qualified in any way to be sure :)

  4. i wish it was salt I know it's not salt though. but thats an idea. this is growing whatever it is. I am about to go buy a microscope and look at the cells see if it really is living or just a residue from something.

  5. Cool idea. You got my curiosty going, so please keep us posted.

    thanks...alex

  6. some one else told me it's pretty sure that it is mildew and I need an anti mildew soap.

  7. This is the reason I will not Tell anyone anything.

I've only been growing 16000 days. Give or take a hundred or so.

I think icmag has an open dicussion going on dealing w/this if you've the time to check. No 1 place has all the answers. Be leary of "seen it all, done it all." Seems nowadays reading a book counts as expert qualifications to tell others what to do.

  8. I know nothing about hydro growing, but it could be hard water and a calcium buildup.
