What size pots for 3x3x6 veg tent

Discussion in 'Grow Room Design/Setup' started by ElChapoJr, Feb 4, 2019.

  1. Hi I’m new to the site here. I have a veg tent that is 3x3x6 and a 5x9 flower tent. I will be doing 9 plants, 3 different strains. What pot size would you suggest in the 3x3 and what size for when I transplant to the 5x9? I’ll be running two 1000w hps lights.
    Thanks for any help!

  2. Depends. Are you running a SCROG/SOG setup? You're definitely going to have to train the hell out of them to fit them.

Also, 2 HPS lights? One per tent right? Just have to ask.

  3. Yeah the flower tent will have a SCROG. The flower tent will have two 1000w hps lights and the veg tent has two 450watt led’s(I think 400 true watts)

  4. Well 2000W of HPS comes with a LOT of heat and a big electricity bill, so long as you can manage.

Your veg tent sounds alright, just a bit small for 9 plants.

Anyhow, to address your questions, transplant to 1 gallon pots for veg and 2 or 3 gallon pots for flower, whichever fits.

    Gonna be tight. Good luck.

  5. How much on electricity you think? I’d go less plants I just want the best yield possible.

  6. 2kw per hr. Look at your bill. Whatever it costs you per kw.

You CAN do 9 plants. Are you on a time limit?

  7. Not on an exact time limit, just trying to get the biggest yields possible by harvesting every 2 months. I’m looking at possibly going the CMH lights way to save money long term.

  8. Then you need to set up a perpetual grow. Scratch the LEDs and put an HPS in each tent. That'll give you max light as long as you can control the heat.

How long are you looking to veg?

  9. Consider this. It will take 2 months to flower... At least. That gives you a 2 month+ veg window to start the next series.

In 2 months veg time, under HPS, you should be able to fill your tent to the brim with 3 plants, and again in flower.

You should have seeds germinating in the last week you veg before flower. As soon as they have their first true leaves, move the veg to flower and put the seedlings in veg.

Sounds like a lot but it's just timing.

  10. Thanks for the responses. I look to veg for two months. Would two 630w cmh lights work as well as two 1000w hps? So how many plants would you say is ideal for best results? Thanks

  11. Never used CMH so I have no idea.

As far as how many plants, that's going to depend on training.

9, SCROG. 6, SOG, 3, however you want (topping, lst, etc).

  12. In my case, running a 400w HPS on 12/12 for flowering combined with a myriad of LED units for veg (20/4) for years has my power bill for a two bedroom home running just over $200 a month. Actually put the HPS on hiatus for a bit and trying for a cycle of flowering with the LEDs. Three cabs for heavy veg and two for sprouts gets things in line for short hours in a 2 x 4 closet. A new 100w COB fixture is kicking ass on this sprout in a 1 x 1 slimline box. First pic 1/28 - clipped - then Kaboom!
