What should I do about my pot-nazi neighbors???

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by pheed, Mar 28, 2016.

  1. I've lived in my southern California apartment duplex since 2001. I've been a medical marijuana patient since 2008. Two years ago, new neighbors moved into the apartment below me, and they seem to be hell-bent on denying me the right to smoke in my own home.

There is no insulation in the walls in this building, so I suspect they can occasionally catch a faint whiff of cannabis smoke, but I wouldn't know since they've never talked to me about it. I try to be as discreet as possible, and keep airflow moving through my apartment so that most of it clears out fairly quickly. But the problem my neighbors have is not really with the smell. It's with the fact that someone is legally allowed to do something that they think should be illegal.

First they called the cops on me, who never even spoke to me and probably just explained the law to them. Since then, they've continually slammed doors, cupboards, toilet seats, showers doors, windows - and they continually yell things through the walls like "I can't wait to vote so we can put away all the potheads!".

Worst of all, every single day, when I get in the shower, they go into their bathroom, run the bathwater, and switch it back and forth between hot and cold while flushing the toilet. All of these things only contribute to making my medical condition (panic disorder) worse, which in turn forces me to have to smoke more.

I confronted them today and asked them if they have anything to say to me, but unfortunately, they are very stubborn and ignorant, and talking to them accomplished nothing. I can't move because of my credit rating, so I'm stuck here in this situation unless I wanna file a lawsuit against them.

Does anyone have any advice for me PLEASE?

  2. You should just smoke more and piss them off until they move.

hmm, could invest into a vape, speak with landlord, or move. I also hear many good things about ozium or smoke buddy's can be useful. you shouldn't have to worry about this, and i feel terrible about that shower part. Its sad how uninformed people are smh.

  4. Yeah, after two years of following that policy, I think it's safe to say it ain't working.

  5. Landlord doesn't wanna do anything because I can't prove any of this harassment.

Vaping won't help. I've taken breaks from smoking for weeks at a time, and they still continue their behavior. They are hateful, angry, stupid people...

  6. Damn dude, some people just have no respect. I wish you the best and respect you a lot for what you are going through.

  7. Run bath water, use a meat temperature gauge (very cheap if you don't have one) and video the temperature fluctuations and demand the landlord fixes it. Obviously if it's the neighbor he won't be able to fix it...

  9. Doesn't sound like you should move at all. Just wait it out. Sounds like they will move before you do. Yea a table top vape is great. I really like Da Buddha
Very affordable and an absolutely great vape.

  12. hey man just wanted to say good luck and that I totally empathize with your situation. In the state I live in people can grow both recreational and medically. I'm a medical patient, but the limit for legal recreational growers is four plants. I have trouble with a house full of different yuppie couples in their 30's. last year I grew outdoors and had trouble with these loud partying yuppie neighbors blasting my plants with smoke from burning cardboard 12 packs and other party trash in their firepit. i'm disabled, and since I harvested my outdoor plants last season, I've had to listen to them yelling drunkenly at parties about how 'there had better be 5 plants so they can nail my ass' and other shit talk. these people watch me struggle with a cane every time I leave the house and the assholes still can't put 2 and 2 together? whatever, I have my med card. I can't wait for them to call the cops so a patrolman can stop by their place and school them on the laws.

  13. as a reserve, I happen to know that their chicken coop isn't to code, and that the placement of their firepit violates building code and fire marshal safety code for my county. So if they ever nut up and actually speak to me directly, I have some leverage to get them to leave me alone because it would be legal for me to call the police whenever they light the fire pit.

If you can't get any help from your landlord in regards to the blatant harassment you are experiencing, maybe you can find an instance of them violating terms of the lease, or otherwise violating a local fire code or ordinance that would give you the right to order an inspection of their property or even call the police. that could be a very good way to apply some pressure to their situation.

  14. Wow dude I can't imagine how much stress that must cause for you! Like many other said in this thread the best way to take care of it is documentation. Try to compile evidence of them fucking with you and I'm sure you could seek legal advice for harassment. If you don't want them smelling smoke just buy a vape! I bought an arizer solo and I sit in my room and vape all day and no smell at all.

  16. Ditto. I've had issues with insecure neighbors as well. Evidence trumps everything else.

  17. I agree, why can't we all get along?:yay::yay::ladiegaga:
