What setup should i use if i need...

    Alright.. i have a 10'x10' room. My aim is approx. 1 lb. or so a month.. what would be the best setup if i was aiming for that? prefferably the easiest way of doing this as of course this will be my first grow. I plan on ordering seeds online so the plant will be pretty high quality i guess. I know most of you are gonna say depends on how much u wanna spend and all that.. but the thing is im not sure.. we'll have the money to buy the lights etc.. i just need to know a suggested setup that i should aim for... :confused:

    Definitlley go with multiple High Pressured Sodium and Metal Halide lights. Go with 1000 watts because you want a pound. You are also gonna need a carbon filter because that many plants is gonna stink up the room badly. It's gonna take a lot of work to maintain that many plants. I rather just grow outdoors...

    Yeah, but too bad I dont have the convenience of growing outdoors... and how do you figure "that many plants" is gonna be soo hard? If im not mistaken I've seen a guy grow thread on here had like 3 maybe 4 plants and got 3/4 pound out of it. The whole 1 pound/ 1 month is just what i would LIKE.. not needing to be met at all, but would be nice.

    divide the room in half, use half of it for flowering, and 1/4 of it for your mothers, and veging clones, to save on electricity i would just go with flouro's for veg, and a killa hps set-up for flower..

    its like an hour and a half long, but it'll be very informative...i don't agree with some of his methods, but overall its a good video..

    i suggest you use a soil medium, but that is my oppinion,

    1 last piece of advice, and most important, START READING. you will learn a lot.

    I have been reading.. im like a quarter way through the Cervantes horticulture bible.. i love it, it just lacks direction, if you know what i mean. But thanks il watch the video.. and draw a little plan and see if it matches what you suggested.

    For your first couple of grows you may want to aim a bit lower than 1 lb/month. If you want to get that eventually, buying the lights for that size grow, now would be fine, but I'd get a couple smaller grows under your belt first. During your smaller grows, you'll learn how to grow MJ, but more importantly for that size grow, you'll learn how to control the sound and odor from your grow room.

    Why do you reccomend vegging in soil and switching to hydro for flowering? Thats going to be a pain in the ass to try to get all the soil off the roots of all the plants, when you need to flip to the hydro.....

    oh no I said that he should practice growing in soil with the Cfl's. Then cut some clones and put it in hydro, but also use the veg room as a clone/mother/veg chamber aslo to start new strains and find the right pheno. Kinda difficult if you tell me but you get what im tryin to say

    I'd say that's some sound advice then....Although a first time grower trying hydro and soil at the same time may be a little much. I see what you're saying with the clones though. I know I've been too scared to try hydro from seeds, cause rockwool scares me for some reason .....haha. But I am planning on taking some clones of my WW and trying to get them up and going in a bubbler by just sitting them straight into some hydrotons......

    I say start out in the closet with a lot of CFL's and grow in soil, and get a feel for things. Then clone into a larger hydro setup in the actual room in the future.

    Alright.. saying im gonna grow in the closet(3x5'). My friend who works at this store can get me free fluoros.. what are the default fluoro tubes watted at? like the common ceiling light ones? He can get me those how many should i get? and also are there some cheap ballasts to hold them? And are there ballasts i can get that would plug into an outlet, w.o wiring?

    those standard shop lights are really only good for seedlings/clones, and not for very long. if you want some "good" tubes, get some t-5's. some people use them start to finish. i have a 4' new wave unit that kicks ass. but even those won't produce in the numbers you're talking about. well, they will, but they're a bit pricey and it wouldn't be wise. i know the reading get old, but you gotta do it, or spend hours on-line waiting for someone to answer you. do what i did. i went to a lot of grow sites and found someone growing the way i wanted to and copied everything he did. every article/post i read that i thought would come in handy, i cut and pasted. i have gigabytes of info. it really come in handy.

    Dude before you spend $100 bucks on high-end floros buy a 400W HPS/MH light off ebay. Then when you go dual-room you can use that in one room. I bought a unit for $195. It's not that high-end of a design but the heat generated won't be an issue for me.
