Ok, I got 2 fans from this surplus place..really beefy fans, they're a little bigger than a 120mm computer fan. On the sticker they say 12vdc 2.26 A (assuming thats amps?) I don't know to much about electrical stuff..I wired them up to 12volt power adapters, they worked...but only for about 4 hours then they quite on me. So what power adapter would I need to make these things run good? I saw these but idk if its the right one or not.. 12vAdapters.com: 12 Volt DC Power Supplies Adapters. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Amp 12V (1A, 2A, 2.5A, 3A, 3.5A, 4A, 5A, 6A)
Maybe you wired it wrong, did you just use electrical tape to hold the ends together? If so make sure it is really tight to keep them from seperating, that happened t me te first time I tried with those fans. and yes that's the right one, I just took one from some old computer speakers and that works perfectly.
Well I did put them together with electrical tape and wire caps. Its the power adapters them selves because I could swap them and they would work..but not for long. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the amps on the power adapters, they're "ma" milliamps and not amps. So I guess I have to order some new adapters
ok people I don't know what the hell is going on lol..I went out and bought a power adapter for the fans..12vdc 2amps and it burnt out within an hour. I don't know why its happening, but I used a power supply from my old comp and wired it up and now the fans work good.
