Hey what's up guys so I've got my tent, bout to order my light. Now i feel like I have to get pots and soil next. But for my small ass 2x2 tent, what would work best? I would like to grow 4 plants cause i think that would be making the most of the space. But what size containers for this space? Are air pots or smart pots recommended? And of course the soil, to be honest, im really thinking of going soil less here, less mess in my closet and tent, and lighter too right? What's a good light- weight, least mess possible soil less medium? Any suggestions? Thanks blades oh btw i have no idea what strain these seeds will be if they ever see the LED light of day lol so just running with bag seed for the first time.
Fuck all that dirt, you have a small space my as well make the best of it. I can grow a quarter pound in less then 90 days with a kit like this real easy. http://www.ebay.com/itm/6-SITE-HYDROPONIC-GROW-BOX-SYSTEM-KIT-5-GALLON-COMPLETE-W-NUTRIENTS-pH-TEST-/151353340388?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item233d5cb1e4
^^ I would never recommend that for a total beginner. Personally I feel that you can only grow 1 plant in a 2x2 area. Also I don't understand the soilless thing. It's just as messy as dirt man. Also you will have to feed via hydroponics if you want to use soilless.
I actually was going to go hydro before I came on GC, but everybody here says beginners go soil cause its forgiving, hydro scares me lol too much goin on. If I was a big dog like you snoop I would go that route cause it does seem way cleaner, but I think I will try soil first, I eventually do wanna try hydro. Just scared to fuck up ha. What about the soil less stuff that looks like fuckin reeses puffs lol? Clay pellets? Here's a pic to give you guys an idea of the space im working with. Those red clay pellets are not soilless. That's for straight up hydro. DWC or ebb and flow type shit. You would use them in those baskets in the setup snoop showed. If you want to go hydro you will need to buy lots more things. RO unit PH meter PH up and down TDS/PPM meter Cal Mag Nutes Nutes Nutes More nutes Flower boosters and ....... more nutes.
Ah of course, (high brain) so really just boils down to what soil I will be using. This is probably where I know the least. I know ppl recommend fox farms alot, but can't find that shit anywhere, guessing because its intended for cannabis cultivation? Idk, anything that will be at homes or menards? Was in there nursery awhile ago, didn't see any thing I thought would be fitting for growing. Any help on brands to look out for guys? Sent from my SGH-T999L using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Soil is expensive, slow, dirty. Easy to fuck up and slow to correct. Anyone who says hydro is tough is not correct. With hydro you can fix the soup in 5 minutes, soil you fuck it up and you drown the plant flushing. I wish I switched to hydro 10+years ago. My harvest are twice as big in far less time.
Really Snoop? I always thought soil was easier and forgiving for the beginner. I have no clue though I haven't used soil since I was a total noob doing 1 plant at a time. Soilless hydro is simple enough for beginners. Especially if you are the type of cook who likes to follow exact recipes. The cost of equipment can be a turnoff. I've never done any other form of hydro because I have been too scared to get my toes wet. Things I forgot to say was, the air pot/fabric pot/smart pot whatever you call em are great. I bought one to test this round and I'm loving it. Going to completely switch over to them next round. if I were you I would start 4 seeds and keep your single best female out of the bunch and flower her out in a 3g pot.
Really snoop?? Aw man I wish had the balls to try it lol, I will once I have a run first cause I think it looks cool as fuck, but been reading for awhile now around the city and man is there alot of mixed opinion on which one is better lol, I still haven't compared nutes yet either Sent from my SGH-T999L using Grasscity Forum mobile app
You are right there are lots of mixed opinions. Different strokes for different folks knowmsayin? I guess find what you think will work best with your financial situation and what you are comfortable with. If you got lots of $$ and are a bit tech savvy I'd say dive right in head first to the hydro. If you are on a budget you might want to k.i.s.s. No need to compare nutes there are many people who have already done that already.
Well with hydro... Water every few days and thats just topping off the tub.... any old time, no rush. Raise the lights when the plants get bigger.... Sometimes I have to check the fit on an air hose... I realy don't do much but switch from veg to bloom and that entails adding bat diarrhea. Im lazy as hell and get great results. When you are ready and have some confidence and a harvest or two under your belt you will like it.
Thanks fellas, you are seriously having me consider it, i thought about it and it would be nice to have a faster harvest time, (so eager to get seed in fuckin dirt) how much faster snoop? Sent from my SGH-T999L using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I looked at that kit on eBay snoop, its super cheap, would it be worth it to spend some coin on a quality one? Money is not (really) an issue so any thing off top around 100-150? Hmmmm, now gonna pack a bowl and look on ebay. Sent from my SGH-T999L using Grasscity Forum mobile app
No don't buy a more expensive kit that will do the exact same thing. That one is quality. It's a very simple system. You could even build one yourself for even cheaper. Some people will disagree but I high advise purchasing a pH and PPM/EC meter if you are going with this method.
125% - 150% faster. The plants get big so fast that if you run the same amount of time as a soil grow you get twice the plant. There is not much to a DWC its a bucket of bubbling nutrient water with a pot of rocks hanging over it. Super simple to build from scratch. $15 for each 5 gallon unit is what it cost me to make. If you want to spend a few bucks start with a bigger tent and lights. TDS and PH meter. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Digital-Ph-Meter-TDS-Tester-Aquarium-Pool-Hydroponic-Water-Monitor-0-9999-PPM/301183379675?_trksid=p2050601.c100266.m3461&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140716145329%26meid%3D8594892691934982248%26pid%3D100266%26prg%3D20140716145329%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D151353340388%26clkid%3D8594903612175869789&_qi=RTM1562570
Ended up ordering the exact ones you recommended snoop, I tried to look for one that fit my space the most, and i couldn't find shit elsewhere so I pulled the trigger on it lol. Urbmon is right not to spend money on a better unit, they are basically all made the same. Will update with pics when it arrives. Sent from my SGH-T999L using Grasscity Forum mobile app
