I am an 18 year old looking to find my place in politics? I gues

    My beliefs are

    Personal Freedom

Government has little control over our personal choices and what we do with our bodies as long as we are not impeding on anyone else's freedoms

Government does protect us against crime, terrorism, takes part in safety but other things gov shouldnt have control over us.

Based on this small amount of information, what party is most like my thoughts? I don't know much about politics.

  2. Here's a little trick-

Republican: You want the government in your bed, but out of your wallet

Democrat: You want the government out of your bed, but in your wallet

Libertarian: You want the government out of both

  3. Sounds Libertarian to me...

    Pick ANYTHING but Dem/Rep...

  4. Just pick independent...

  5. I like very general labels. I don't think it is necessary to know what party you should be in as long as you know where you stand on issues.

Assigning yourself to a party only makes things more competitive when we should be worried about running (or not running) the country.

  6. Be cool like me and fuck the system by registering 'unaffiliated'.

  7. Yup, also known as Independent.

  8. Would agree.. Dont be a sheep...

  9. Party lines mean absolutely nothing nowdays, its all about money and power...its where YOU stand on issues, not your party....

  10. You're a Libertarian, congratulations.

If you want to register for a party, you might want to look up the laws in your state, since some will prevent you from doing certain things if you register as an independent.

  11. I think you are getting pretty good advice here. I would start by identifying whether you are more conservative or liberal. Its hard to do sometimes and its meaning less and less everyday but its worth knowing. I myself have more liberal political views but I don't necessarily identify with the democrats.

  12. Do the country a favor and don't worry about Party affiliation.

Well, obviously, unless it's something that really betrays something scary about the person's character, like the Nazi Party of America or something.

What you should worry about is which candidate makes the most sense to you and seems the best-qualified for the job.

Party politics is all a bunch of prick-waving. On both sides. Leave it behind and focus on the guys running. Who is funding them? Who are they connected with? How have they voted before and what do they say about those votes now?

  13. Please, do anything but register as a democrat or republican. Independence is the way to go. Check this website out if you really want to find a single party to identify with. It is kind of bias towards some parties, though.

    Politics1 - Director of U.S. Political Parties

This list only covers some of the less well known policital parties out there. Look at the Libertarian National Socialist Green Party for some lulz.
"This party purports to be comprised of atheist, peaceful, pro-gay, pro-drug legalization, anti-racist, environmentalist Nazis who acknowledge the Holocaust likely occurred (but are neutral as to its justification) ..." Damn, there's even a United States Marijuana Party. I bet they have best parties.

  14. Dont associate yourself with either.

  15. I agree with everyone else. You are a libertarian philosophically. While the Libertarian Party is a good political party (for the most party) I would discourage you from adopting it as your party. I've known too many people fall prey to the party line voting. I was active in the Libertarian Party but voted for Ron Paul, a Republican, during the Republican primaries.

Don't choose a party. Just stay who you are and vote your conscience.

  16. Party Politics Works, Guys!

    Register Independent.

  17. Register for the Ron Fucking Paul party. I would give a limb to have that dude as president. :(

  18. Sounds like a good time to start a political party. We will call it the revolutionary party. We want it to go back to what our Fore Fathers intended. Which was freedom. This is a concept our worthless new leaders seem to have forgotten all about.

Here is the link to the libertarian party. Take a look around and see what you think. See if there is a chapter in your state, and go to their site to see if there is any additional information.
